this weekend i have to go to the european youth parliament and i was put into the following topic: Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI) "Water is central to sustainable development: solving water problems means progress across all pillars of sustainable development. No strategy for the reduction of poverty can ignore people's vital requirements for water and sanitation." (Stavros Dimas, European Commissioner for the Environment) Water, water everywhere but not a drop to drink! Tackling the global water crisis in developing countries: what action can the EU take to ensure that sustainable adequate sanitary water is available around the world? so i was wondering if anybody had any answers to the question

I think the solution is in conserving the existing water supply. Since most water consumption is used in agriculture. I think the best method is to improve the water retention of the soils used in agriculture. If the soil can retain water for longer it reduces the amount of water required by a lot. Water is wasted so much so its up to people to conserve water locally. If everyone does little things like turning off taps when not using the water etc. then that is another way to conserve the amount of water lost dramatically. Governments would have to invest in strategies in which they can improve the conservation of water locally and agriculturally. These are only two ways but there are lots of ways to conserve water.

Exactly so if they invest in conservation then that could reduce the amount of water consumed for industry, locally, agriculturally etc.
