Well I'll make a simplier version. If you care to call someone wrong and then not read their response, I find it a bit ignorant.
If x represents your number you put in and y represents your answer you could create an equation baised on the "riddle"
((2x +10)/2) - X = Y (set up)
(2x+10)/2) = Y + X (add x to both sides)
2x + 10 = 2Y + 2X (multiply both sides by 2)
10 = 2Y (subtrack 2x from both sides - thus your number x doesnt matter)
10/2 = Y (this just proves that all your doing is taking 10/2, again and again. This is not incorrect nor am i building off someone elses ideas.)

Im too lazy to read all that u should know t hat...

The problem is an order of operations problem, just simple algebra.
Your number(x) multiple by 2 plus ten. Is like 2x + 10. divide by two (X+5) and then subtract your number x with leaves you with five.
So every time your just dividing 10 by 2 to get your answer. If you set up your equation its just 2x +10 on both sides...just some easy algebra, it looks like something different due to the manipulation. 2x + 10 will always equal 2x + 10.
