Is it me or are the subs off by between 1-5 seconds?

Not a bad lag time, but still annoying to some extent as I have to try and remember certain japanese phrases that I haven't heard in a while to know what the said :s

It's dark, darker than dark. Almost pitch black, I held my hand out in front of me. I tried desperately to find a light switch, or some form of illumination. Desperately I searched, scouring my hands all over the place, until I finally bumped something and it hit the ground. I quickly reached the the item and picked it up.
