Umm, correction: he was drawn with those eyes before we knew he had been the juubi's jinchuriki. It's not like we can count on those pictures to be chronological, seeing as Madara was the only one who knew about it.

Even though we don't know the exact time setting that the pictures are in, I think that Rikudo became a jinchuuriki, THEN he had two pupils because he was on his death bed and wanted to pass down the knowledge of a shinobi.

And when madara is explaining what happened between the juubi and Rikudo, you don't see Rikudo's eyes until after he created the jutsu that made him it's jinchuuriki.
