This is true. Adding to that Jiraiya would not expect Kakashi to even use MS. Just for those reasons I think Kakashi would win because of his Kamui. He can also outsmart Jiraiya. I mean Jiraiya is not exactly stupid either. But Kakashi himself stated that Kakashi is smarter than Shikamaru.

Jiraiya would win because Kakashi may be smart but Jiraiya is not exactly dumb either at least not when it comes to fighting.
Naruto could beat Kakashi now, and then there is the fact that Itachi put Kakashi in a coma but Itachi and Kisame fled the scene when confronted by Jiraiya.
So seeing Jiraiya confront Itachi vs seeing Kakashi confront Itachi, I would say Jiraiya, and Jiraiya lasted a good while against Pain on his own in sage mode, Kakashi was killed by one of the Pains pretty easily using a method that was life threatening to him just to damage one of them.

Well he did not take out Itachi but Itachi never had real intentions of killing anyone from the leaf and he did not want to get in a serious fight with Jiraiya and he could of killed Kakashi but he did not.

Itachi knew that Jiraiya was someone he did not want to get into a fight with, so he definately seen Jiraiya as being more dangerous to mess with then he did Kakashi.

Yeah, Itachi running from Jiraiya could be purely because he never actually wanted Akatsuki to get the Kyuubi. Or perhaps because they were already caught in his jutsu. Considering that Jiraiya knew nothing about Itachi's MS techniques I don't see how Itachi would have lost.

Itachi would have put Jiraiya down as easily as he did Kakashi if Jiraiya boldly looked into his eyes like Kakashi did. No one really knew about Itachi's MS techs at that time so Kakashi thought his eye could break any genjutsu he cast. Saying that Naruto could beat Kakashi doesn't really make sense because Naruto could likely beat Jiraiya as well. That's also ignoring the possibility of Kamui killing Naruto.

Kakashi also would have won that battle with Pein. He lost because the fatties failed to finish off the other one properly and it blocked his killing blow. It makes no sense to say that Kakashi lost easily.

All in all knowledge is power. I don't think Jiraiya has any knowledge of Kakashi's Kamui and so is unlikely to take precautions against it. It being as fast and deadly as it is gives Kakashi the capability to kill Jiraiya easily at the beginning of the fight.

Overall Jiraiya is more powerful but his sage mode is like a spirit bomb. It's powerful but takes forever to use. He is unlikely to even know that he needs it before it's too late.

They were coming at him,he just had to create a the black hole thingy in front of the attack and it will go straight in unlike when he tries to suck some1
I will go with Jiraya on this one even though I like Kakashi

damn just typed a reply and hit the wrong key and lost everything I typed, not repeating it, will say I like Kakashi and what I said did make sense, Kakashi has shown that he is strong but admits Naruto and Sasuke have surpassed him. Lets go back, he had to be saved by Naruto and Sasuke from Zabuza's water trap. He made the self realization that he may not of been a match for even Kabuto when Kabuto managed to kill those guards and change their appearance as he did. Kakashi showed fear when Orochimaru showed up when he was sealing the curse mark on Sasuke, Jiraiya and Oro are of the same level.
Then there was his fight with Sasuke, he was struggling to fight against Sasuke and Sakura would have died if Naruto had not of shown up, and the only reason Kakashi could even fight against Sasuke was the fact that Sasuke was weak and losing his sight from fighting Danzo.

I think it is a pretty safe bet to say that Jiraiya would beat Kakashi unless Kakashi was willing to sacrifice himself to beat him and that could fail just as it did with Pain, a toad could get in the way or anything for that matter.

I was only saying Kakashi is smarter than Jiraiya, thus he has a tactical advantage. Even if it's not a gigantic difference maker. Naruto could beat Jiraiya too now so that argument is pointless. Well back then Kakashi was a lot weaker than he is now. He hadn't even awakened MS at that point so that argument of yours is pretty groundless too. It wasn't pretty easily, Kakashi held his ground for quite sometime. Besides he's stronger than he was then as well. Plus Jiraiya knew a lot more about Pain than Kakashi did. Meh didn't read Vincent's post till now. He's exactly right though.
