Okay, yeah I see that. And I was joking with you when I asked that question. Besides, we've pretty much hammered that one to death. We could debate which is better between the Chidori and the Rasengan? But this would be the wrong thread for that.

Jiraiya without a shadow of a doubt you only have to look at the quality of shinobi he has produced through his guidance Minato,Nagato and Naruto only the 3rd you could argue comes even close as a teacher.What did he actually teach neji and tenten? Gai was the same as Kakashi in focusing on one student granted neji had the hyuuga style where you could say gai would of been no help as for tenten she was already good at throwing sharp and pointy things and she does not seem to learnt much else.

I don't care who you think is the best, but to say that Kakashi focused on one student is false. Kakashi trained all of team 7 especially Naruto and Sasuke. He may have not trained them equally or trained them to your satisfaction, but he trained them. Sasuke learned the Chidori from him and taught Naruto about his element which led way for him to create the Wind Release: Rasenshuriken. The only reason why Rock Lee gets so much extra training is becuase he approaches Gai and asks for it. Gai didn't focus on one student it's just that Lee was an overachiever.

You could also say that Naruto was a product of Iruka. The third taught the Sannin sure, but was he really the cause for Orochimaru and Tsunde. The third was no expert in medical ninjutsu nor did he teach Oro about forbidden jutsu. I'm just saying that it sounds like double talk. Gai and Kakashi gets penalized, but the third doesn't. Orochimaru's mastery surpassed anything that Sarutobi taught him. The same thing about Nagato/Pein. Jirayai never taught nor guided the 6 paths of pain.

Consider all aspects before bringing up baseless conjecture.

Baseless or not, what he said is pretty much the most accurate. Jiraiya and the 3rd Hokage are the best teachers without a doubt.

Baseless basically translates to no merit. If something holds no merit, then it normally means that any claims made are not legit. What do you mean accurate? Do you mean the polls? Last, I check the third was losing there. The third is a nice guy and good leader, but what does that say about his teaching ability. All I'm wanting from martinsrusell is to back up the claim that Sarutobi is a big contender for the best sensei position.

I'll ask you the same question. Why is the third the best sensei (not counting Jiraiya) as you claim?

I gotta say that while I agree w/ your comments on Gai and Rock Lee, your comment above is pretty much baseless conjecture as well. For one, Iruka taught at the academy, he had many students under his tutelage, so he could never focus on any particular students. I mean if you consider Naruto being the product of Iruka, then you'd have to consider EVERY student under his tutelage similarly. While Tsunade and Orochimaru indeed likely learned to specialize in their own areas, the 3rd was still crucial in teaching them how to function as a team and cover the basics of being ninja. Likewise, using the fact that Jiraiya was not instrumental in instructing Nagato in using the 6 paths of Pein doesn't negate the fact that he was still responsible for not only teaching Nagato, Yahiko, and Konan the basics of being a ninja, but also of how to function as team as well. After all, were it not for Jiraiya's tutelage, the 6 paths of Pein would likely never have come about in the first place.

Basing facts off the poll doesn't mean too much. Most of the votes probably were considered for popularity instead.

But as for the why the 3rd is one of the best? It is pretty much as theOrator puts it. Just because the results of the students change and vary like Orochimaru doesn't mean he wasn't instrumental in their upbringing. But the 3rd DID teach and guide those 3 up to be Sannin(sp?) and 2 of them were actual candidates for the 5th hokage. I mean.. why wouldnt he be one of the best senseis?
