Asuma.

Trained Naruto how to use element, sharpened and motivated the smartest mind in all of Konoha, sacrificed himself to directly save his students. Comparing some of the other teachers who aren't alive on the list - Jiraiya lost to Pain, 3rd hokage lost to orochimara (though to more or less save entire village), 4rth to save his son. Asuma knew he had a kid on the way, and sacrificed himself for 3 of his students he wasn't related to.

I wouldn't say he sacrificed himself for the team. He just got beat by Hidan and Kakuzu.

And Jiraiya didn't just lose to Pein, he sacrificed himself to both stall Akatsuki's attempt to go after the Kyuubi and give Konoha the information they would need to fight against Pein more effectively. Compared to that, Asuma's death had less of an impact on the village itself. In fact, both the 3rd and 4th's deaths had more of an impact on the village overall than Asuma's.

They were Hokage. If their deaths didn't have more impact they weren't doing their jobs right.
