Eh, but they're bloodline. I don't think knowing two elements and having the ability to mix the two is viable (e.g. Sasuke knows fire and lightning and I don't really see him getting a bloodline ability from it.) Madara nommed on the 1st's DNA (bloodline), and that's why he is able to use wood.

Think the Sage could use Bloodline elemental stuff? Because otherwise that leaves a hole as to where mixing elements originated

I would think that having the intel Iwagakure had on Deidara, plus simply knowing that Sasori is in the group, would have allowed them to set up adequate defenses and warning systems.
But with no known threat and thus no intel sharing, they weren't anticipating anyone to attack a ninja village in peacetime.

As for the KG elemental mixing, just because the Sage was the first ninja doesn't mean he developed everything.

Even if they weren't expecting it: you'd expect their defences to be exceptionally high in their capital.

Not that he developed everything, but I do think he had the ability to use.

For some reason this sounds very 9/11'y to me... [I just felt like saying that so pay this no mind]

If it didn't come from the Sage this suggests that people before the Sage must have had dormant KG/Bloodline DNA. And since they obviously are hereditary this points to the fact that the first man ever must have had all of this blood. Idk how it fits if you consider the evolutionary mindset tho instead of the creationism one.

Capital?
Sunagakure is just the ninja village of the Wind Country.
Sure it's one of their most important military installations, but it's already in a really tough spot to assault.
Don't forget that it was thanks to Sasori's mind jutsu that they were infiltrated and their guards were disabled. Had they known about that they could have done screenings.

Ninja capital the dudes who go out on missions, assassinations, eating contests.
The only one putting up a fight was the captured Kazekage, even if the outside guards were incapacitated, does that mean the only fighters are the ones... wait a minute.

I forgot there's very few important characters, so even if Madara was flaunting: no one could do anything.
