Which Akatsuki member do you think is Overrated? (Possible spoilers)

I don't think I ever mentioned those guys. Asuma did fight the wrong opponent. Technically so did Hidan, Shikamaru had already seen what he could do and had developed plans to counter them.

The importance of their strength changes depending on the person. If you expect the person to be very strong and they're not then the strength is very important. If you expect them to be weak and they are then the strength isn't important. I was discussing a factor of the question.

Hidan fought the wrong guy the first time but Shikamaru could have told anyone what he learned.

they all have they're own special abilities which make defeating tham very difficult. i say none are overrated.

Hidan is much more dangerous if you don't know what his abilities are. If you know he needs your blood to use his technique I think that he's not even half as dangerous. From what I've seen of the other guys even if you know what their abilities are you're not too much better off.

True for some ninjas, but knowing how a technique works and actually being able to counter/avoid it are two different things. It's easy to tell someone "hey, don't let him get your blood or he'll curse you". But if that person is still unable to avoid taking damage in the fight, then that whole point is moot. After all, even the strongest and most intelligent fighters in the series haven't walked away from a battle unscathed,

If anyone has ever fought a puppeteer(who often use poisons on their weapons, have a faster rate of attacks, and more attacks at once) they know how not to get cut. If people could dodge puppeteers' attacks they should be fine against Hidan. My comment was more directed towards characters like Naruto who aren't afraid to take an attack to score a hit. If he knows he can't let Hidan get his blood it's pretty much certain he'll win. Most ninja would probably take a scratch to score a hit to the heart. Against Hidan that sort of trade isn't in your favor. To lose that element of surprise makes Hidan much less dangerous.
