Thats a good question, theres enough story in the manga to keep the anime at a reasonable distance from the current storyline for a good while yet, its like saying why there was 100 odd eps of filler before shippuuden! Then again this current arc is racing through the manga version, before we know it its gonna be sasuke vs deidara, then jiraya v Pein then...............probably one of the best fights in the entire series! I'd like to see them try to weasel some filler in this intense storyline now! or not

Well I think we can all agree that he is damn powerful, and is at hokage if not more level strength. We haven't even seen all of his power, the most we've seen i think is like 20-30% (one of the first fights in shippuuden) and that nearly killed gai! Like weve all been saying, he probably plays a much bigger part in naruto than the story lets on, and i reckon theres gonna be a big arc involving kisame as one of the main enemies. Maybe something to do with the moons eye plan, or the hidden mist village in a crisis
