Kakashi uses a hand seal before he can use the mangekyou...

those who killed people close to them didn't require anything of that sort...so as far as how he got it...it still remains a history

I am pretty sure he uses the hand seal to consentrate, because he does not have an Uchiha body and his chackra capacity is not big enough to handle the Mangekyou techniques.

True he does use hand seals or so it seems but maybe he was gathering chakara for using it. I agree eraz there will probably be a second Gaiden.

No, killing to get the MS like Itachi says involves the malice to kill for your own gain. Rin's death doesn't mean Kakashi killed her! We don't know how she died. Obito died because Kakashi was somewhat careless, not because he killed him.

Another Gaiden would be totally sweet. I was hoping they'd go back to Kakashi's conversation with his father and we'd find out about Rin and more there. =P

Yes you are right about the malice etc.
So it makes me think. What if one of the pple close to Kakashi killed Rin ? And by avenging her , and killing that person, he obtained it? Revenge = Malice.

Kakashi is not about revenge; he tried to talk Sasuke out of it, saying it amounts to nothing. And that would probably be so long after she's died. I'm betting she died well before we meet Kakashi in the first series.

I don't know how Rin died...my guess would be through some mission. I think there is more to the Rin/Kakashi story. Like they stayed on that squad together for a while or maybe she went to ANBU too.

He couldn't of got MS by killing Rin since she was dead way before he acquired it. Anyways I doubt its in his nature to kill for power.

and I agree suit although the medic part doesn't make a difference. It was a time of war back then.
