Re: Infernal Affairs

goddammit! i cry everytime i see this movie. i could watch this trilogy until i die and i think the result would be the same. i once read somewhere that, in order to laugh or cry at the act or image someone else emits, you must have the authority over that emotion, meaning you must have experienced it yourself to understand it and relive it in a tiny way (it's like watching someone eating strawberries : if you have tasted them before, then you can relate to the enjoyment of someone else eating them, and remember the taste; but if you have not, then you will not be able to relate or even comprehend the person's delight), i think that is why i connect with this movie so well. anyway i love this movie, time fore Infernal Affairs II !

But is it really the US audiene or the movie industry which keeps the level down?
But they do such things quit often. Fo instance there is this german movie "die Anderen"...which was quite successfull, but Hollywood is going to make a remake in order to reach a greater audience. I wonder how much of the original complexity will be maintained.
well in my opinion, is has the be the movie makers keeping the level down. it comes down to what your love is, money or art, the answer in the filmmakers heart is always obvious. if you could make a movie, and no matter what you put out you were going to make profit, most people wouldn't make the extra effort to make the movie more enjoyable. it's just human nature, to bad in this sense it is effecting other people.
