i heard this mentioned a few times on this thread but i've never heard of it. it must be an advanced form those who read the manga know about. but what in the world is it, and when does he do it?

he gets 100 shadows put into him giaining all there abilities plus his onemanga.com has the manga you can read it its a one time deal btw but he does merge gear 2 and 3 thats cool

i think its nightmare luffy not shadow luffy just w8 a few more episodes and youl see or read the manga

So, nightmare luffy. Is only once. Its not really a ability he obtains. Gotcha... the anime needs to hurry up and get good then :O

the anime IS GOOD!!
The manga is as Good as the anime, so if you whant to get furthure, read the manga at onemagna.com, like I did

Although this shadow "land" is not the best parts, and the things that happens afterwards is wel.. ok... I feel like it's dropped in quality just a little, although you do get to know more about Gold D. Roger in the manga now

That is interesting :P

See at least 357 click to show Nightmare luffy, if you've reached episode 357 or more you know there is a guy who can cut of your shadows. Luffy gets his shadow cut of and his shadow goes in to a big zombie monster. Then later in the manga, to defeat him self in a bigger version he pumps himself with alof of different shadows. (He meets a guy who hold shadows who cannot find theyr master body again if I do not remeber wrong) The thing is that when you get another shadow you get that shadows powers. So luffy gains his own power (since he still has his streching abilites) pumbed with shadows from several other warriors. With this he became Nightmare Luffy, in order do defeat "Monster Zombie" luffy This is not gear 4,I've read the manga and is following it now at onemanga.com, as far as I know there is no gear 4
