You mean by chance instead of by skill? I think there is always a bit of chance involved in epic battles like that, but it's the skill of the one who is able to capitalize on chances and chance openings that makes the difference in who wins. That's one thing the Straw Hats can do well, I think.

Even so, I really think that it was skill and strength on the part of each of the Straw Hats that allowed them to defeat CP9, as well as the power granted them by their sheer determination to see Robin saved and back at their sides and not hurt anymore. I don't think CP9 had any idea they were as strong as that or had such a powerful incentive that would help that capitalize on any and all openings. CP9's pride that they couldn't be beaten probably lent an advantage to Luffy and company as well. When you are proud of your strength you tend to miss things that can work against you.

Kaku's attitude towards Zoro comes to mind. He was quite respectful of his power in the end, and I don't think that would have been the case if he had been beaten totally "by chance."

True -- even so, he had to decide to use it, and a certain amount of knowledge and thinking ahead about the consequences went into that choice, as well as good judgment on when to use it. That's not skill, per se, but it's not "chance," either.

If Robin's extra arms are harmed how does that affect her? She seemed like she could feel what was happening with her other arms in her fight in Sky Island.

Yes, I think she just feels pain or w/e, but her arms don't receive damage :S

Too bad it was a filler (a great one) where she touched the kairoseki necklace with her DFhand, and her power got cancelled
I don't remember is it happened somewhere in the show.
