Talk AFTER you've rewatched the movie, cause apparently you're rusty. LIO himself told Mikiya his Origin in his apartment, which he told to Ryougi and Touko. Touko explained the entire nature of Origins, and particularly Consumption to him. Yes, everyone knew how hopeless it was.

Really? You think so? He's so kind he can't hurt a deranged monster, whose actions have been so inhuman he's literally turning inhuman. He's so kind he's going to let that monster go back into society and murder countless other people, ending their lives and staining the lives of everyone close to them.
