There won't be a third season, and there really shouldn't be. Any possible method of resurrecting Lelouch would completely compromise the story and make the series unwatchable. Without Lelouch the series is equally unwatchable.

Let it go, it was an amazing series, appreciate it for what it has already given us, and hope something comes soon this coming season to help fill the void.

34 proofs of “Lelouch is alive” !!! There are proof’s , theory’s and ideas :

1 ) He got his geass on max level and still sane so he can obtain a code now and might have obtained from his father code when he killed Charles . The code on Charles right hand was not zoomed in for nothings . After Lelouch commands his parrents to be gone we didn’t see Charles code as well his code . Its like his right arm is being erased or rather absorbed by Lelouch .
2 ) He doesn’t require to kill the one who gave him the gears . One of the reason
why Charles wanted C.C code while he didn’t get gears from her.
3 ) Orange is smiling at the end , he know about the plan . And as we know of his loyalty towards Lelouch he would never let the person who he wanted protect the most sacrifice himself unless there is a good reason , he know Lelouch has gained the power of immortality . He even wish good luck to Kurusaku and ordered the knights not to shot him . He doesn’t show truly panic when Lelouch got killed . Els he would at least be sad like Suzaku right ? Suzaku cries might because he doesn’t know the existence of code’s .
4 ) Ninaly see Lelouch's memories at the end . Which has only shown in the anime by people who obtained a code , C.C .
5 ) The man at the end who is with C.C is very suspicious . C.C even asked him about the geass en said “righ Lelouch ?” with a cute voice . She raise her voice when she said Lelouch . Would be weird to do that if she was talk to herself .
6 ) The code on the right hand of Charles were shown when he grab Lelouch neck , Its even got zoom in . After this we have never seen Lelouch's lower part on his neck. His code might be somewhere around here.
7 ) He still got a promise with C.C . To make her smile . She also mentioned it in one of the last episode that she made a promise with him . What ells could she been so happy at the end ? And wouldn’t Lelouch made such a big crime towards her since he wanted her to live , promised and just die like nothings happened ? He would at least think a little about her right ? I mean … he should have at least a small talk with her before he got killed . But no he didn’t even said farewell . Quite clear to you I hope ?
8 ) Why didn’t they show the face of the car drive at the end ? How many people covers their face completely like that ? Still a mystery ! And its summer … I rarely see some farmer whose cover his face like that lolz .
9 ) R2 = R.R. in japanese the "L" letter is pronounced like a "R", so If all is pronunciation we have this: R.R. = L.L (In english) = Lelouch Lamperouge so… he is immortal. Got this information from somewhere ~.~
10 ) In the final scene C.C says: "The power of Geass brings ones loneliness…that’s not quite right is it, Lelouch?" So… if Lelouch is not alone anymore and is with C.C… he must to be the wagon driver, ne?, look how C.C. nods her head in the direction of the wagon driver =) , I highly doubt she look at the sky because when she talk to herself about Marianne before she didn’t look up to the sky . So where ells you think she looks ?
11 ) C.C never talk with dead people . She only talk with Marianne because of Marianne geass ability to connect hearts . Therefore the cart driver must be Lelouch !
12 ) The holder of the code doesn’t need to die to give the code to the other persoon. Unless they want to end their endless life the same time aswell . Theory : You have to obtain the code before you dead . In the serie the sister manage to hurt C.C + kill herself
=> she first gave the code to C.C then killed / wounded C.C and then killed herself . Of course C.C wont take the code from the sister on her own => the sister has forced the code upon C.C . This theory might explain that Charles actually passed the code on Lelouch before he died . And since the code is immortal it should not be erased along with Charles right ? Ells C.C could have got rid of the code by slice off her forehead xD . and I didn’t saw the code when Charles disappearing . So there is even more chance that Charles left it behind for Lelouch before he died .
13 ) Most people said that if Lelouch is still alive then he would lie to this world again while he said that he wanted to create a world without lie's . Wrong , because Suzaku is in fact not dead ! so it doesn’t matter if Lelouch doesn’t dead ! Now Suzaku just got to hide his face for his entirely life behind zero's mask like Lelouch to protect the truth . After all the everything’s about Zero Requiem was a big lie to the whole world !
14 ) The maker said he is death but doesn’t mean he wont return ! He is indeed got killed and come back to live . The one who is dead in everyone mind is the horrifying emperor Lelouch vi Britania ! Not the Lelouch we hope to stay alive .
15 ) The title said enough . Code Geas ! Lelouch is the first one to obtain both Code + Geass . Coz he got them from different persons .
16 ) The ending was set for viewers to decide for themselves if Lelouch alive or not, and I say that was very smart move. All Hail Lelouch! So if the most of us say he is alive then he is ALIVE !
17 ) R2 might mean revolution 2 as everyone think but I think its R.R . The nick name for immortal Lelouch Just like V.V and C.C .
18 ) They show so many proof that he might still alive than dead . A true end mean that we should either know he is alive or dead but no ... they left us on this clift ... The end is so open and many things are still not revealed , like C.C’s name etc ... Means they might have something’s in mind -> Season 3 !!! =) ( I prefer S3 than OVA -_- )
19 ) You all might though Suzaku dead as well when the cat sit before his grave . But no its just part of the whole lie ^^ . Suzaku is ****ing alive ! So why Lelouch cant ? All is fake … Zero requiem = big lie xD .
20 ) If he lost his geass , the series would indeed be over since all is about the geass . But Lelouch now might have both code and geass . Because everything’s in the story always have to do with Lelouch geass so if the maker just give him Code in exchange for geass then the serie might be over long ago . That is why now he might get both .
21 ) I don’t think lelouch was gonna leave c.c. all by herself after they shown how much he care about her and promise that she wont be alone. that he would make her smile . And C.C is quite sane at the end so what could be the reason ? =)
22 ) The place they are heading is a farm . Why would they go there if her wish was to die ? Perhaps because she want to live here a peaceful live with her beloved one . Since no one is gona check here anyway Lelouch existence wont be discovered. If they live in the city there is no doubt early or late he will be discovered and ruin everything’s what they have build for the world . And I think they are heading toward Orange and Anya ( they are both on the farm as well ) I guess they all have planned what they will do after the whole Zero Requiem . Poor Suzaku he is the only one who doesn’t know about it . And I think they are still in Japan . Don’t you think they would take a plane if they wanted to flee to somewhere far away ?
23 ) Orange-kun is sane . Why would he be sane if the one he wanted protect the most is gona die ? Even if it was a plan to save the world he would never allow Lelouch to sacrifice himself . And he should at least be sad right ? But no he laugh , like the smiling of a winning match . There for Lelouch won both the world's Happiness and his own happiness .
24 ) If Lelouch know he was really gona die . Don’t you think he should talk with C.C a bit before the ending ? They skip to much . The reason that he didn’t talked to her before he dies might because he knew he will success his plan and escape with her .
25 ) And what for reasons could C.C be so happy at the end ? Before when she said her wish is to die . Lelouch manage to convince her to live because he will make her smile . If Lelouch is gona die now wont that be a big lie , so mean : ( ? Its just way stupid . Therefore he is alive ! No , he must be alive.
26 ) The reason C.C cries for Lelouch might because she feel sorry for him to sacrifice his own normal life to correct the world which he ruined at the end of season 1 . That he now have to hide and living as he is dead . He can never be Lelouch again .
27 ) If Lelouch is gona die anyway why not kill off C.C before as well ? What purpose could the writer let she live for ? Now Lelouch is dead she got nothings left ... Lame
28 ) Lelouch said to Nunally that he is proud of her own thoughs so he decide to advance on his own path . Mean finish zero requiem en leave with C.C . Dont you think if he know he is really gona die he would say otherwise ? Like a nice farewell etc .
29 ) At the end C.C ask Lelouch that : Its not quite accurate that geass bring ones solitude right Lelouch ? If he is not solitude then where do you think he is right now ? With his mother on heavens or with those people who know he is already dead ? The one and only possible is that he and C.C are traveling together !!!
30 ) Is there a known way to destroy code ? NO . That mean when the world of C destroyed Charles the code might have transferred to Lelouch
31 ) Charles might as well give Lelouch his code for unknown reasons . Some people think Charles cant give Lelouch code because Lelouch didn’t obtain the geass from Charles . But did Charles obtain geass from C.C ? No . And even so its seem he can obtain the code from C.C so why cant Lelouch not from Charles ? As I explained before its not the geass bearer that take the code from the code carrier but the code carrier gave the code to the geass bearer . Marianne ask C.C why she didn’t gave the geass to Charles.
32 ) You know what's great about the ending? It's so open...anyone can interpret it to their own ideas. I'd rather have a firm "dead or alive" confirmation, but this ending really was pulled off beautifully. Because its open that is why the chance of season 3 is high . Even though Sunrise don’t want to continue the series . I hope other company will do it because its so awesome . If it was a true ending they should have confirmed he is alive or dead . The ending is just like a spoiler for the next season .

The maker make it so that they can make the next season if they want or they
can just leave it like this . I love this ending , love Lelouch en love the serie
and I hope that Lelouch is not really dead . 80% said true 20% said not true
because the maker himself said Lelouch is dead and few others proof . But look how many proof did I bring out that he is still Alive . About 10 times the proof that he is dead . And mostly everyone say he is alive . The creator made the end this way so we can decide our self whether he is dead or alive . But common maybe another company
will continued the series instead Sunrise .

Season 3 possible :
# Might start with C.C making another contract ( if Lelouch is really dead T_T )
# Or Lelouch come back when the world need him again . Like when Suzaku did a shitty job as Zero . Would ruin the end of season 2

# Or Lelouch en C.C lived together immortality and season 3 start 100 years later

An alternate Code Geass story in which Lelouch's fate is unknown after his meeting with C.C., whether he be dead or alive. Nunnally makes a Geass contract and gains the power to read the lines of the future. She also obtains a new body and takes up piloting an unusual Knightmare Frame.

that sounds like it'd be cool but a new main character would be better

I doubt it will have another season with such a well though out ending though
