so i started watching dragon ball z on this site a few days ago and i just got to episode 18 and it is completely different. It obviously skipped several episodes and it sounds like the characters are voiced by completely different people. What happened? and where can i go to fix this problem if possible?

lol its not DBZ its Dragonball Kai its a new db series where it shows the whole DBZ saga without the fillers...thats why it seems like it skips episodes....and it is a few new voices because the original voices passed away but some of the characters still have their original voice..

There's nothing wrong with those. What you're watching are the original ocean dubbed episodes that were aired from 1996-98. Ocean group had different voices, cut a lot of the earlier filler, and added their own sound effects. Starting in '99, the dub switched to funimation's own voice actor group based in Texas. After the frieza saga, ocean group dubbed the international release of DBZ, while funimation continued to do it in the US. The international release, however, suffered from low budgets, was rushed, and many of the voice actors changed. A few years ago, funimation redubbed the original episodes ocean did, so you can always watch those if you want to hear the newer voices. With that said, many people, such as myself, prefer the original 53 ocean dubbed episodes over them. Just to note, the infamous "over 9000!" comes from the original ocean dubbed episodes.

Movies are noncannon; it doesn't matter when you watch them. You can tell judging by power levels when they would supposedly take place in the series. The only two cannon side stories are Bardock: Father of Goku and the History of Trunks which are obvious when they take place.

Well I've been following Dragonball since 1996 or '97, so there's no excuse for me to forget anything at this point.
![]() Oh, and if you continue to watch DBZ TC, watch the movie Dead Zone. Even though it's noncannon, there is a filler between the end of the Frieza fight and arrival of Trunks based on the villain from that story.
