What an Epic 1st Episode it's unbelievable! they changed everything in such an awsome way and just too much awsomeness. They went widescreen, the great references to OP. Sadaharu and Kyubei and Otae-san and the Gorilla + Baby!
I missed this soo much, no other anime is so f*cked up and soo god damn hilarious!

Agreed with the above posters, the new episode was awesome. I knew that gintama was coming back at some point (thanks to this thread!), but I forgot the date it was coming out and figured it would be coming out next year or something; so to find both the benizakura movie (which I assumed was fake) and the new episode within a day of each other was a great surprise. Made my day .

Btw, does anyone know how much, if any, relation this episode has to the manga? Is it completely anime original?

I think it's anime original because I don't remember the manga taking a break, that and it has very recent references.

hmm, id say theyll do something to get back to the manga as well though, although the fillers are just as good haha!

Yeah that wouldn't surprise me. I'm just so used to crappy fillers that I just can't believe a studio could make such good ones. But then again, it is Gintama after all ;D.

Yeah true, it just looks like they'll be doing "filler" for at least a few episodes, so I'm pretty curious about how they'll switch back to following the manga. It seems a bit hard to pull the dream card when it's going on for more than one episode, but I don't really see how else they can do it.

So yeah, my money's on it being a dream.
