Yeah for some reason which ever guy seems the most obsessive usually goes on and on about how they want to stay by that person's side (stand by your man comes to mind lol) Sion is highly intelligent can seem to sense things, and apparently very strong for a person who was never taught to fight. What I mean by something more to him. Yeah he fears losing Nezumi more then anything a very sudden thing to say to someone you only met briefly a few years before. Talk about your strong connections. Then that is what I love about these stories something about that illogical attachment draws me everytime.

It's a very interesting attachment but I wouldn't call it illogical. Or at least since it's built on emotional foundations like all love is, I wouldn't say it's unusual that they formed such a strong bond. At first it was just protective instinct when Sion saw Nez bleeding (and he was so small and skinny he looked like a little girl). But then both in the book and the anime, you can see Sion get captivated by the grey eyes right before him. Maybe you remember when he's dressing the wound he's even thinking about how Nez' eyes are "like the sky at dusk" or sth and then he blushes to himself over thinking of "poetry." He's also impressed when Nez pins and paralyses him on the bed, and then Nez falls asleep in Sion's arms and Sion follows right after him. Those have got to be some intense memories so I don't blame him for the initial emotional attachment. Then four years later he can't remember what Nezumi even looks like, except for his eyes. But he remembers everything Nez told him about No. 6, and about how living people are warm and so on. With Nezumi it's more of a gradual thing (to get over his issues, that is) but we all know how much of a shock and a "miracle" it was for him, what Sion did. He also learned at the time that Sion was already a "dissenter," which he obviously liked. And he must have resolved to watch over Sion (with his mice I mean) and protect him, very early on. "To return a favour" he says, which I guess is partially true, but there are plenty of hints after they reunite that Nezumi finds Sion fascinating (and I would argue, physically attractive). And when Nez is awake on his bed after the neck-grabbing incident, he thinks of Sion's confession in a nutshell: "I can't live on without you." And he admits to himself that Sion was saying his own thoughts as well. First he thinks that moment is the first time he's "lost" Sion. But then he realises he never "possessed" him at all-- that he was only seeing parts of who Sion is but not the whole person. And it seems to me in the anime now that Nezumi isn't going so deredere just because he's gotten over his issues, but also because he wants to "protect" the angelic Sion he loves from changing into someone else.

Oh I know they were captivated from the time they met. That is common though with these stories the I can't live without you obsessive love. That is actually what I like about them. I said illogical because of the obsessive I would die without you nature of them. This is why I think the way I do about Naruto, the obsessive illogical attachment and seemingly unbreakable bond. I do love this story so don't think I am speaking bad of it, I love their relationship and how much they mean to each other and how they found each other. This story is unique in it's own right kinda like Loveless. I love it when the stories actually revolve around emotional attachment and not just sex (which happens more often in yaoi) but the downside to shonen ai is often they don't even give a kiss scene. I like how this story is going but would like to see a more intense kiss scene but I am not complaining at least they are showing the most important thing, the emotional attachment. There are some yaoi's that do this as well, but they are usually tragic.

Oh okay, I guess I misunderstood then. I agree the emotional attachment is what makes their relationship so fascinating, but at the same time with all the tension being built up you kind of want a more passionate "release" (AKA a more meaningful kiss). I have no interest in yaoi (i.e. when it's very physical), but I'd like to at least see a little more contact in a story with such a heavy romance element to it. Especially when you've got a story that seems to be set up for some sort of tragedy to occur. It would end up feeling like such a let-down or waste if the two people couldn't express themselves to each other more fully and more clearly before the end of the program. btw apparently in the novels, you've got 5 volumes of setup for 4 volumes of action. But Bones' anime has 9 eps of setup (unless you count the manhunt scene) and 2 eps of action. lol... Also, apparently volume 8 is really short once you take out "all the speeches" and should be covered in tomorrow's ep. So tomorrow's ep might end with the beginning of volume 9 (which will likely be a massive cliffhanger), and then the final ep will obviously bring it all home. I'm still mostly happy with the adaptation though some scenes (neck-grabbing) were moved to odd places, some stuff was cut that I really think should have stayed in (the "I don't trust you" speech). Other parts were done a little better-- the tiny bits of filler each serve a clear purpose. (Without the filler, we would know almost nothing about Safu, and why she ends up at Karan's door.) I peeked at manga chapter 8 and it looks like there's going to be more to her capture scene, just like I thought, probably coming out of the book. Of course the second half of the novel chapter will come out on Sunday I guess so I can read it then for myself...

Oh no I understood why you thought that and I love how passionate you are about their relationship to the point you are defensive, that is how I feel when I get attached to relationships if you know what I mean ![]() I don't really care for the full on physical either (yaoi) but I get frustrated as you said with the lack of passionate physical contact when you know it is there (shonen ai) You can find some that are inbetween they are usually labeled shonen ai because they are not full on but they are not as soft as shonen ai either. A good example of this would be Let Dai but it is manga only and has quite a bit of tragedy in it. Loveless has more kiss scenes then this anime so far but there is the age thing but if you understand the nature of the relationship you won't find that as disturbing, there is actually a reason for it other then some guy being a ped but I can't really explain it without spoiling the story. Ai no Kusabi is more physical but not too graphic to be a yaoi but once again it is tragic. Most of the anime versions tone down the graphic parts but not all of them, if you were to watch say Sensitive pornograph well the title fits it well because that is basically what it is, porn.

lol... yeah I guess I do know now. Never found a romance before with that kind of deep emotional connection between two people, and especially which develops from a really unique shared experience (& series of experiences) in a really real and understandable way, into totally mutual respect and admiration, instead of just some guy taking abuse from some tsundere girl just because he finds her pretty or some girl stalking some "cool" guy because she's too shy to talk to him. Tsunderes and unhealthy obsessions aside, I wish every romance had those basic elements I mentioned above. And maybe this is just me but I really wish more romance stories showed a love that could convince me (like this one does) that it doesn't matter what sex each person is, if everything else was the same they would still have fallen for each other, regardless. Thanks for the rundown (on the other programs). ![]() And yeah I hope at least the rumoured second kiss is in there and that it's as meaningful as it should be and that it isn't happening because somebody is dying or something like that. :/

Yeah it does not matter the gender it just feels right, and they look good together, when you can feel that between 2 characters it is awsome. I have seen malexfemale relationships in anime and I have never really got that feeling from them and the couple of times I sensed it the story ended up going a different direction. I know that the other pairing you know I am hung up on does not have the romantic theme to it but it could have easily been turned that way and been believable. Mutual is hard to find, and Sion and Nezumi do have that, with my fave pairing before a certain someone ran away they showed that too in undertoned ways. I still sense it there to some degree although appears more one-sided. I really hope for that second kiss too but I have read the conversation that precedes it just based on that it sounds like it don't happen but I have not seen the entire scene translation so not sure. It will be more interesting if it does unless it don't occur because of Sion's inability to seperate flirting from literal. I am trying to be vague because the part I read was coincided with the comments I read from the author but that part was suppose to be out of the novel I think but I won't spoil the conversation for you ![]() Oh you are welcome for the run down and after this is over and you want to see more similiar type things or if you get a curious about one, there is not really many out there I have not seen except the shota ones I intentially avoid with the exception of Loveless. So I can tell you if it may be a story you like, if it shows too much or maybe more then you would be comfortable with etc. There are some good stories but the best ones usually show more then this one or say like Gravitation.

I was totally comfortable with the relationship in Gravitation. The things that bugged me about that series were just the repetitive tsundere gimmicks and the uke's loud and hyperactive behaviour... but other than that it wasn't so bad really. *edit* Forgot to say re No. 6: It's still possible they'll put the kiss in but change the conversation or something. I mean look what they did with the ep 7 kiss scene. The situation is completely different from in the book, and almost everything he said in the anime was... Spoiler My suspicion right now is that the anime and the book are going to have rather different endings too.

will have to find spoilers on the ending once this is over in the anime, then the manga could go either way. The hyper active uke is typical and that is not as bad as some of the others :/ It is not bad but it is not great either.

The manga is sticking very close to the book. Kino cut some minor lines of dialogue and shortened scenes (in unimportant parts) here and there, and she's changed the order of some of the scenes but for the most part it's the exact same plot. And the biggest thing I've noticed between the anime and the book is something I thought they might be saving for later, but now I'm starting to think they've cut it out (and this is why I think it'll end differently)... Spoiler Oh by the way, when the heck are we going to learn Nezumi's real name already? I mean they're going off to the CF to risk their lives in "hell" and Sion still doesn't get to know? lol! Apparently in the book dream sequence it says Elyurias is calling Nezumi by his "real name," which he hasn't heard anyone use for a long time, but it doesn't say what it is of course. I think the reason he calls himself Nezumi is because he was a "lab rat" for the scientists of No. 6 and their creepy experiments, until he escaped that day. Can't figure whether the scars on his back are burns from the slaughter or from some sort of experiment they did on him, though. I wonder if we'll find out from the anime. As for hyperactive ukes, I guess that's supposed to be seen as "cute" or something but damn does it ever annoy me when any character gets that way. For it to be a main character kind of sucks. *edit* Forgot to say: I won't read a spoiler of the book ending, myself. I just want to know if it's mostly different or mostly the same.
