Nezumi I felt sorry for him this episode but then Sion becoming cold was something Nezumi feared, as well as fearing losing Sion to Safu or anyone. Sion blacks out when it comes to anger and seems the only thing that provoke that kind of anger is the fear of losing Nezumi.

They got one episode left to finish this and the episodes do not seem long enough as it is, I don't see how they are gonna do it and it is probably gonna be rushed they should of made the season a bit longer.

I am curious how they are gonna get out of there, explain everything in one episode.

Well actually apparently they covered two whole novels in this ep. lol...

Evidently the infiltration in the book was much more complicated and both Sion & Nezumi change more gradually. I started reading translations of sections of Volume 5, Chapter 2 and I was so shocked by the differences in their characters and the type of conversation they were having, it was basically spoilers for the book that will never appear in the anime.

Also, I confirmed Safu fainting at the same time Nezumi does was an anime-only thing. My guess is that they want to tie her being affected by Elyurias in with Sion's killer side (neck-grab scene is later on in the same ep as the fainting). So now I'm positive we're heading for an animal original ending. Another guess: maybe Elyurias is just using both Safu and Sion in order to get to Nezumi, the last of the forest people whom she wants to get to sing her song?

btw I've seen some pretty funny humour about both past eps and today's ep. I can post them here later, maybe...

well I just seen another spoiler on mal about safu so I know the how now as well. I should learn lol.

I don't think Elyurias is connected to Sion's violent side, I think he blacks out when he gets angry but only thing that can make him that angry is the fear of losing Nezumi or Nezumi being threatened in some way or heck even insulted like when he was offered the prostitute position.

I think the anime Safu fainting version along with Nezumi was to show that Elyurias was going to use her and also his connection from being the only survivor of the forest people. They also love the same person I think Sion has always been special we seen him spacing out before he met Nezumi when the wind would blow and he survived the wasp only one other has so definately something unique about him.

The one thing I can say about the book excerpt I read that might relate to today's ep (not a spoiler really, but just in case):
Spoiler
It explains why Sion was smiling:
Spoiler
At least in the book, it's not because he's going to see Safu like Nezumi seems to be assuming. He's smiling because he's got Nezumi and that means he's still human. If so, then creepy... and no wonder Nez says early in the book that the smile Sion had on when he was about to inject the anesthetic 4 years before was in his nightmares.

LoL creepy huh I find him amusing

Oh another thing about Nez and Safu's connection they both love the same person but Safu also becomes the vessel for the only one left from Nezumi's people. Considering I now know what occurs that is interesting.

Oh I also like this part from the novel where Sion's mom reflects on asking Sion who is Nezumi because Sion was always saying his name during that 4 years after they met. This is not a spoiler but gonna tag it because of length. This has already happened but they did not ad it to the anime.

Spoiler

"So what's this Nezumi? Who is he?"

"Huh?"

"It's someone's name, isn't it?" She had thought so because of the tender way her son said the word. Nostalgically, lovingly, at times strained― it even carried a tone of longing. He would definitely not use that tone of voice to call a regular mouse or rat.

"Did you get your heart broken by that person?"

"Never. What're you saying, Mom?"

"Well, it sounded like that."

"No, it's not like that. You've got it all wrong."

It was then that Sion would become unusually agitated, blush crimson, and do things like drop his spoon. Yes, she remembered it now. Nezumi...

Well I looked back at what I wrote earlier and you're right, it sounds sweet. lol... it's creepy because of the situation though. Nezumi is weirded out because they'd just shot some people or something like that. But what's far, far creepier is the conversation they have about it. I couldn't believe what I was reading. I think I had my jaw dropped the whole time. They've really cleaned things up for the anime, far more so than I thought before.

Your bit about Safu and vessels had me tilting my head. I get all the parts, but not quite how they fit together. Reminds me of the Gatekeeper and Keymaster from Ghostbusters. (dated and goofy movie reference ftl...)

And awww... that part of the novel also made me smile.

My favourite part (from Volume 2, Chapter 1 -- LONG but worth it...):
Spoiler
I wanted to cut it shorter, but there's so little I can really cut. Shion's grabbed the arms of the chair Nezumi's sitting in and he's looking him straight in the eyes.
Quote:
"It might be arrogant― but I'm not lying. Regardless of what kind of place is, I still want to continue living here. It's not because I got chased out of No. 6 as a criminal. Even if I wasn't― no matter how horrible this environment turns out to be, I want to stay here."

"What's your reason?" Nezumi shot back. "If you're not lying, and if you're not trying to impress me with a model answer, what lead you to make that decision?"

"I'm drawn to you."

"Huh?"

"You know things that I don't know. You've taught me things that no one has ever taught me before. I can't say it well, but―" he hesitated. "I'm drawn to you. A lot. That's why I want to stay here. I want to see what you see, eat what you eat, and breathe the same air as you. I want to hold in these hands what I would never have been able to get in No. 6."

Nezumi slowly blinked twice. Then, he placed a palm on his forehead and shook his head slowly in exasperation.

"Sion, I've been noticing this for some time now, but―" "Yeah?"

"Your language ability is worse than a chimpanzee."

"I've heard before that the genome of a human and chimpanzee are only different by 1.23%," said Sion, unfazed. "I don't think you should mock chimpanzees."

"I'm mocking you. Idiot. Don't you have any idea what proper expressions to use?"

"Was there something weird about what I said?"

"Don't use words like 'drawn to' so easily. It's a very weighty, important word. You're only supposed to use it for a special, irreplaceable person in your life."

"Then how am I supposed to say it? Do I say I love you?"

Nezumi heaved a long, exaggerated sigh. "Never mind," he muttered. "It messes me up when I talk to you. Here," he pushed a thick book into Sion's hands, and stood up. "Hamlet. Read it."

"I already have."

"Then read it again. Give that crippled language ability of yours some good, hard training. Learn some words."

"Was I off-the-mark that badly?" Nezumi's words quickened.

"You're just fascinated by new and unusual things. You're like a scholar who's discovered a new planet, or a new kind of bacteria. You're just itching with curiosity because you've met someone who's different from all the people that used to surround you. That's it. You're not drawn to me, and you're not in love with me. You're just excited about the exotic animal you've discovered. Can't you even tell the difference?"

They were harsh words. They became sharp thorns that stabbed at Sion's eardrums.

"I don't trust you," Nezumi said.

Sion raised his face, and his gaze collided with Nezumi's. He had been biting his lip without thinking.

"I don't trust anything you say. You're someone who's been living in artificial abundance since you were born. And you're arrogant enough to be able to say you can throw away that fortune easily. ―Sion," he said suddenly. "When you used to do that cleaning job at the park, you had to do that ritual every morning, didn't you?"

The ritual was always the first task in Sion's work day. He had to lay a palm on the image of the City Hall ― or Moondrop, informally ― that was displayed on monitor of the maintenance system, and pledge his allegiance.

"I hereon and ever pledge my unwavering allegiance to the City of No. 6."

"Our gratitude for your loyalty. Engage in your day's labour with sincerity and pride as a good citizen of the City."

That was it. Every morning, he had repeated the same task. It had been a sore discomfort for him. His youthful pride stung for having to repeat these banal and grandiose words, and for this ritual itself, which seemed foolish.

Nezumi gave a short laugh. "You hated it, didn't you."

"Yeah."

"Felt suffocated, didn't you, being forced to declare your loyalty."

"Yeah... now that you mention it."

"But you put up with it," Nezumi said. "Instead of retaliating, you recited this pledge every morning, not meaning a single word of it, and pretended it didn't bother you. Let me tell you something, Sion: words aren't things that you can toss around casually. You can't let yourself be forced to say something, and just put up with it. But you don't know that. So that's why I'm not going to trust you."

Nezumi's hand suddenly extended toward him. His palm touched Sion's cheek. "Did that hurt?" he asked gently.

"Quite a bit."

"―I don't have any grudge against you. And I don't hate you, either."

"I know..." Sion answered quietly. "That much I can tell."

"Sion."

"Hm?"

"Feel like going outside?"

His fingers caressed Sion's hair.

"You're fully recovered, now, aren't you? Feel like seeing for yourself the place you've decided to continue living in?"

Nostalgia on 9th Avenue: NO. 6
I'm so glad they put this in the manga (chapter 8)! You HAVE to see the look on Sion's face at the end of this part in the manga. Can't wait till it's translated to English. Ah the irony of Nez insisting Sion respect the power of words when his own words don't match his actions at all. ^_^

I have not read the conversation about it I don't think but would like to so I can see what is creepy.

So Sion did think feeling drawn to him and loving him may be the same thing, and it messes with Nezumi's head so he got harsh but showed gentle actions and people want to call it a bromance pfft

I can't wait until the manga is translated either, where did you read the convo about the smile though would like to read that.

I already know how at least one of the biggest parts of this and how it is gonna go next week talk about spoiler lol

Oh so you seen the coversation about kissing before dying but as you see they did not kiss why I said from what I had read it did not happen then from the sounds of it but that was the only part I read.

I don't find the conversation creepy just amusing so that happened before they even climbed the bodies so they put the smile in the wrong place in the anime too then and it did not even have anything to do with Safu anyway, dang why did they cut all that out how annoying!

Yeah I see what you mean about the pics even though I can't read it I remember what I read before.

Just found spoilers so I know the ending now whoops :/

Sion & Rat in no. 6 hellhole. The mountain of bodies was just horrible.
Dog keeper got the kid Sion saved, now that's gonna be interesting in the future.
The infiltration was successful, but stealth was just not their thing.
Sion turned out to be a pretty ruthless killer, what a surprise ( ゚ Д゚)
Well, at least they managed to get to Safu.
