Since this is my first VS, let's take a look at two classic series that probably all of us have grown up watching.
It's a big match we're going to look at. This match is bigger than David vs Goliath, it's bigger than Hulk Hogan vs André The Giant, it's bigger than Dracula vs Frankenstein. This match is...

These two shows are classics, everyone should remember watching either one of these shows when you were young, hell some of you may even like this still today ;O but this is two big series.

Pokémon got created in 1996 by Satoshi Tajiri and it originally released as a pair of interlinkable Game Boy role-playing video games developed by Game Freak, and since then Pokémon have become the second most successful and lucrative video game-based media franchise in the world, behind only Nintendo's own Mario-series. Since then Pokémon properties has also been turned into merchandises, manga, anime, trading cards, toys, books and other media. it had it's 10th anniversary on 2006 and in 28th May 2010, cumulative sales of the video games (including home console versions, such as the ¨Pikachu¨ Nintendo 64) have reached more then 200 million copies (Source = Wikipedia)

Digimon was created by Akiyoshi Hongo, which is a mysterious figure but he is credited as the creator and his exact roles is unknown (I couldn't find so much information about Digimon then this o.o sorry, haha)

Now how will this VS work? Well what will happen basicly is that I take these two things, in this case two series, and make this match into 5 rounds where I talk about the comparison between these two series and the one with the best score after 5 rounds wins...so let's get going!

Round 1: The monsters

First i'm going to talk about the monsters in the series, let us take a look at the Pokémon's first. The original Pokémon is the most memorable one in the series, they have classic characters like Pikachu, Meowth, Charmander, Squirtle, Bulbasaur and more. But since the start they have had lots and lots of Pokémons, 649 Pokémons to be exact. There are different kinds of Pokémons, there are Pokémons that are cute and snuggly-looking, there are some Pokémon's that basicly look pretty tough and awesome and some are looking...well....quite frankly scary O_O but Pokémon has many memorable monsters though.
And now let's take a look at Digimon. The original series is also a classic and also one of the most memorable, the memorable monsters there is...well.....this is kind of embarrising...but i've actually kind of forgot the names on them heheh O.O but you guys knows who i'm talking about...right?
Anyways who wins first round? Well...even if I think that the Digimons monsters are looking cooler and more badass, when they evolve that is, I think the first round goes to Pokémon, since they have the more memorable monsters then Digimon does...even though that every monster has ¨-mon-¨in the end of their name in Digimon, haha

Moving on to Round 2

Round 2: Main character/characters

Digimon is a bit different when it comes to the main characters, the only main characters in Pokémon (of what I can think of at least and i'm NOT including the monsters in this one) is Ash, Brock and Misty (even though they all don't meet up each other right away) meanwhile in Digimon we get to meet up with Matt, Sora, Izzy, Mimi, Joe, T.K., Kari and Ken right away...I think o.O anyways who wins this one then? Digimon does have a lot of main characters...but I still prefer Pokémons characters though, since they are...well...again more memorable, hehe

Round 3: The theme song

Which theme song is better? Pokémon kinda has a pop rock kind of a theme while Digimon has a bit more rockier tune to it. Pokémons theme is a classic and everyone should remember how it goes....na na na-na na na na-naaaaa....dammit, I can't get it out of my head now DDDD: but I think that Digimons theme is also memorable, I mean who doesn't want to sing out ¨Digimon, Digital Monsters, Digimon are the champions!¨. But who wins this one? I think...i'll give this one to Digimon, since their theme song is a bit easier to remember when it comes to the lyrics then Pokémons.

The end is near to this epic match, but we still have two rounds left

Round 4: The original movies

Pokémon: The First Movie VS Digimon The Movie...hmmm....I find this choice pretty hard to be honest. I loved both of the movies, when I was younger that is, so I will have a hard time deciding which one to pick really. But I can say though that Pokémon's movie was quite dramatic and kind of epic...but this round will be a short one, but I think i'll pick Digimons movie on this one. Yes, I know there's a sad moment by the end in Pokémons movie, but I thought that Digimon's movie was much more epic and it was....kind of weird really, but I didn't really mind that, but I enjoyed Digimons movie better.

Now we're at the last stretch, the score is even with 2 - 2 and the last round will determine who will win this

Round 5: The villains

Now when it comes to villains, Digimon has a quite a bunch of them. Meanwhile in Pokémon, the villains that we know of is Team Rocket (Jessie, James and Meowth and their leader Giovanni). But i'll make this round a bit short as well, so who's the better villains? This one goes tooo......Pokémon!
And why wouldn't they win really? They are a lot funnier and they always succeed to fail on everything they do.

Digimon for me since it was more entertaining than pokemon, if only by a small margin. The thing that killed both of them were the seasons afterwards...too much overkill, especially pokemon.

Monsters: Digimon. - Digivolution <3 If it wasn't for the whole 649 Pokemon thing I'd go Pokemon, but classic monsters ie. Mew, Mewtwo, Lugia etc are being killed off in these next-gen games...

Main characters: Digimon. - Ash needs to man-up. In fact, he looks even younger in the new B/W series...

Theme song: Pokemon.- Hands down. - Most of the OPs are awesome ;D

Movies: Tie. I think of Pokemon 2000 with Lugia and the Digimon Movie <3

Villains: Incomparable - Team Rocket had the 'bumbling oaf' part. Digimon enemies were usually darker and are a bit more epic as such.

2-1 Digimon - The games were incredible as well. You can't beat over 50 days playtime across all Pokemon games ever conceived Digimon Rumble Arena for PS2 was <3 and the Digivice's were like a Digimon Tamagotchi, yet actually fun. I used to have all of them and maul my friends as a boy xD SUCH GOOD TIMES!

If games were being compared it'd be 2-2, as Pokemon games never failed to draw me in, despite how B/W ignored old Pokemon.

I was actually about to compare the games, but since i've never played any Digimon games before I skipped it and chose villains instead of games.

Digimon world > any pokemon game.
It's annoying as hell, but one of the best monster training games ever created.

Team Rocket were funny the first few times, but they got very old very fast.

What actually makes this challenging is the shit route Digimon took.
Pokemon was great, soothing, and brought a smile to many children's face and it still does.
Digimon though was an adventure, it started off as a great series and started declining with the change of seasons. (Not that Pokemon hasn't, but at least it keeps semi steady)

If I had to pick, it'd be Digimon because I loved the first two seasons.
Overall, I value Pokemon more though.

Video Game wise;

DW1: Okay.
DW2: Very good.
DW3: Great.
DWSequels: Bad.
Digimon Rumble Arena: Very Good.
Digimon Rumble Arena 2: Great.

Red/Blue/Yellow: Okay.
Silver/Gold/Crystal: Great.
Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald: Quite Good.
FireRed/LeafGreen: Good.
Pearl/Diamond/Platinum: Bad.
HeartGold/SoulSilver: Very Good.
Black/White: Okay.
Colosseum: Very Good.
XD: Great.
Battle Revolution: Awful.

I think Pokemon wins there too. (for me)

I only watched up to 3 because the rest just weren't aired over here (afaik).
It's better than Pokemon because it wasn't the same thing over and over. Digimon was a darker, more plot orientated Pokemon, and a much better adventure.
I think I'll take a point for monsters and give it to Digimon, too.

Agreed it's better as an original concept, but I can't help but feel bad for the children that grow up with Transformers like looking Digimon, same with Yugioh.
While in Pokemon it's always steady, different views per generation.
