Fayline flew gracefully through the air on her broom, humming happily to herself. She'd finally made it to Clocktower to begin her search for her brother.

"I know I'll find something around here to point me toward him," she thought. First thing's first, though. She needed to get into her classes and blend in.

"Not that flying around on a broom is the best way to do that," she thought dryly. Steering downward, she landed in the middle of a courtyard, where people immediately began to huddle and speak in hushed whispers. Deciding to ignore them, she spied a boy sitting on the ledge around a big fountain, his face covered by a book. She walked over and tapped his head with her finger.

"Excuse me," she asked. The boy, who happened to be Marcel, gave an irritated grunt. The book slid down just enough so that his eyes were visible. As he did, two large blue-green eyes filled his vision.

"Aaah!" he cried, falling backward into the fountain. Fayline blinked in surprise. She hadn't thought that putting her face that close to his would startle him into the fountain. She quickly grabbed his jacket and pulled him out.

"Sorry about that," she said, laughing nervously. Marcel gave her a withering look before grabbing his book and trying to ignore her. He couldn't help but notice the broom she was carrying.

"What are you doing with that? Are you a witch or something?" he asked, despite himself. Fayline grinned, holding it up higher.

"This? It's my Mystic Code," she said proudly. Marcel raised an eyebrow.

"If you say so," he muttered, sticking his nose back in his book. Fayline sighed and grabbed it. Marcel made a feeble attempt to recover it.

"Before you go digging back into your book," she said, "can you tell me how to get to my first class? It's here."

She pointed at the page she was holding. Marcel looked at it before sighing.

"Well I have to go that way anyway now. Come on."

He stood up and led her toward a doorway out of the courtyard.

"So what's your name?" Fayline asked, smiling at him. He blushed slightly and looked away.

"Marcel Blackwood. You?"

Marcel wasn't sure why he was talking to this girl. He had just realized he was talking to a complete stranger more than he had talked to anyone in a long time.

"Fayline," she replied, following him up to a classroom. Marcel folded his arms.

"Don't you have a last name?" he asked. She looked a bit distant for a moment. The others in the room didn't seem to notice them as people went to their seats for the beginning of class, although a girl with black hair and ribbons gave them a glance over.

"I do, but I want to make a different name for myself. I'm Fayline," she said, then thought of Marcel's previous words and smiled. "The Witch of the Clocktower."

Only 5 minutes for class to start and most students were already there, in the corner next to the window sit a young girl by the name Tohsaka Rin, despite that this was a magus school, her presence were already catching much attention, although no one seemed to come near her, probably her superior aura was making hard for anyone to feel comfortable near her.

Suddenly the door open, and young lady covered in red comes in, her blonde hair and blue eyes immediately captivated the male students, she examines the room closely and makes a small smile when she sees her target. With cane in and the walks gracely towards Tohsaka Rin. "You must be Rin from the Tohsaka family am I correct?"

Rin gives a small glare as if not expecting this kind f approach "Y-Yes, and you are?"

The blond gives a small smile as if she was victorious, removing her red hat and making a slight bow as if she was taught how to be a gentlemen despite being a girl she declares "Ah yes. I am Cornelia of the Alba's family and my objective is to be in your good side." she said gracefully putting her hat back in top of her head.

Rin looks eyes wide open to the girl's straight answer "Come again?" she asked to make sure she heard right.

Cornelia takes the seat next to Rin and smiles "It is simple for my objective I need to be on the good side of all the new generation of magus and since the Tohsaka family is such an important family i decided that you along with a few more would be by targets of seduction" she declared.

Rin stays silent, she without a doubt hated those who putted to much importance in to their family's name, however she could hate Cornelia when she was being straight forward and not doing like others who behave like obedient servants, still she asked "And what would be this objective be?"

"To bring honor and respect back to the Alba's name" Cornelia declared happily as if she already knew how Rin was going to react. Cornelia was most excited when she found out how Rin's personality had such a great capability to hers that she decided that Rin would be the first she would try.

Rin could not help but understand Cornelia, back in the Holy Grail she also seeked the grail for the Tohsaka name and not for herself. Understanding this Rin smiles back "I see, then I guess there's no helping it." and then resumed to look through the window.

Coirnelia flitch a bit with Rin sudden lack of conversation will "Um....Rin? Are you ignoring me?" she asked a bit worried.

Rin turns her head around showing a relaxed face, so relaxed it looked like a different person "Hm? Not really. Why you ask?"

"Well you kind of didnt continue the conversation......"

Rin looks at Cornelia and gives a dry smile "Oh? But we ended did we? I accepted your approach and ended the conversation." she said with a tone almost playful.

Cornelia felt a bit uncomfortable with the smile, this was being harder than she expected, "Your making fun of me arent you?"

"Pretty much~" she answered immediately.

Cornelia felt herself shrick and Rin grow, Cornelia had no doubt about her charismatic character, but Rin's was on a whole different level that made Cornelia uneasy. "Um-um, oh right! Rin you were a participant of the Heaven's Feel werent you? I was thinking of joining it the next time but I'm not so sure how it consists...." Cornelia started to lower her voice until it was impossible to hear, Rin had completely change, a few seconds ago she was torturing Cornelia, in a friendly way, but now Rin's expression had become 'bored'

"The Heaven's Feel is destroyed, it aint happening again and even if it did only bad results would come from it...." she said in a neutral tone as if drowning in thoughts

"Ah. I'm sorry I dont know what happened while you were in it but it seems i went to far, please accept my apologies." Cornelia immediately said realizing she had asked to much.

Rin realizing she had strayed off she immediately counters "No its nothing, you dont need to worry." Rin was starting to like Cornelia, despite the fact that she was after her name, she was being honest to herself, it was obvious that if Cornelia disliked Rin that she would have declared so already, but instead she is acting as a friend.

Both Cornelia and Rin continue to chat while waiting for the teacher.

Gabriel strolled through the halls of Clocktower. He had a polite smile on his face as he nodded in greeting towards fellow students. "Yo Magus! What do you think you are doing here of all places!" some one called from behind him.

Gabriel sighed heavily, as other students snickered. Pinching the bridge of his nostrils he turned to face the source of the voice. It was boy of similar age. He was from a family that valued wealth over actual talent hence why Gabriel couldn't remember what his family name was.

It was common knowledge around Clock tower that he was an orphan, and his adoptive parents had a family name of Magus... A twisted pun of sorts considering what he was. Some few small dogs trying to bark like big dogs had latched onto the idea that if all of them were true magi then he named magus wasn't a true magus.

It was also widely known about him that his particular magic was mental interference and it was widely thought that he was exceptionally talented at that form of magic, being able to overcome most mage's natural resistance to such a thing. Gabriel however was quite clever, what was not however widely known about Gabriel was that he also used rune magic.

It was quite devious actually, placing runes from a distance was difficult because of again that self same resistance that blocked his mental interference abilities. However when both were done at the same time it usually overpowered the persons resistance. So he would discreetly apply runes to amplify his own natural abilities making it appear that he was a far stronger mage then he actually was. In all actuality he was about around average with most of the other students here. Nothing particularly special except for that.

"You really want to do this again Damon?" He asked the offending boy. Who at that moment was puffing out his chest like some kind of ridiculous peacock. "I'm gonna get you this time!" the boy cried as a fireball spell erupted from his hand towards Gabriel. Gabriel quite calmly side stepped the ball, then stared very calmly at the boy. His hand made such minute gestures barely even noticeable, if anyone had been looking most were still recoiling from the shock of the sudden fireball being cast. He finished the rune and launched at it him.

Even as the rune was hitting him and the boys resistances were at work dealing with it, he used the lapse in the strength of Damon's resistance to use his command magic on him. In a polite voice tinged with a hard edge he said "Go drop your head in a toilet and flush." The boy Damons eyes were wide as he was otherwise powerless but to obey the command. As the boy marched off in halting steps the gathered student body burst into giggles and went back about their business.

As the students cleared he noticed that Emily was standing there waiting for him. If someone was to look at the two, they would never guess that she was waiting for him, or even that they were what he himself considered friends. He fell into step a respectable distance from her just, and in their usual silence they walked to class.

It was strange the only thing Emily had ever said to him was "You use rune magic too." she had stated it a simple fact. She knew what he was doing. From then on they had done this odd causal routine. As they entered the class Emily went and found her seat while Gabriel did the same not paying much attention to those gathered around him unless they asked something of him.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~The Inner Turmoil of Gabriel~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(This is buried so far down in Gabriels mind and is protected by his magic from those who might try to intrude upon it... What that means guys no meta-gaming this)
During the incident with Damon: You filthy heathen if I hadn't been ordered not to reveal myself I would go over there and rip your god damn arm off beat you with it then shove it down your throat. Disgusting infidel!
Suddenly an man comes in the class, all students become quiet and take their seats thinking that the man was the teacher "Strange isnt the teacher a bit early?" Rin commented but to everyone's surprise the man just walks and takes a seat in front of Cornelia, Rin immediately understood that the man was no teacher after witnessing his behavior "Oy oy arent you a little old to be here?" she asked.
The man just looks at Rin and then shrugs "I guess..."
"What you mean 'I guess'?! Are you some kind of pedophile?!" she said knowing well she was exaggerating.
The man looks at Rin a bit troubled by her comment and then sighs "How troublesome..."
Rin wasnt liking the man's behavior at all it was remind her of someone unpleasant. But suddenly Cornelia comes to her aid "Do not worry Rin." she said with a smile and then gestured at the man "This is Rack Morto, the only remaining member of the thought to be dead Morto's family." she declared happily.
Rin flitch a bit "Morto? Wasnt that some freakish family.....wait, how do you know so much about him?" Rin asked while narrowing her eyes "Say you didnt make some kind of research for all important families now did you?"
"Apparently she did, I most confess this is troublesome, I was expecting that no one would have found out who i was but..." He glared at Cornelia and then gave a smirk "But I suppose resourceful magus appear every once in awhile. Both Rack and Cornelia had already met and had a conversation, although it seemed more that Cornelia was forcing one on to him, it seems both their rooms are next each other which is why they already met. What Rack understood was the Cornelia was the type of person one can depend on but she wont stop until she knows every little detail about someone, as for Cornelia she understood that Rack was the quiet type of person who really doesnt care about anything, which made it difficult for her to get him to talk at all.
"Hey! How was I suppose to know which magus I should target if I didnt have their information" she declared sounding innocent but her words werent helping much.
Rin sighs, she had just met two troublesome people, although she liked one, the other was a bit strange, but then she remembered something she had already forgotten "Wait, that still doesnt explain why your here in the first place, by your age you should already be some kind of teacher and not a student.
Rack opens his mouth "Is that so? Well I was only called for the Clock Tower now and this is where they put me" Rack says in a very bored tone.
Rin was really starting to get pissed off, this Rack person was really reminding her of that bastard Kotomine.
Marcel sat down at a desk and resumed reading, shutting out everything around him. However, a sigh came from so close to him that he had to look up.
"W-what-" he spluttered. Fayline, perched on top of his desk, gave a curious look at him.
"Something wrong?" she asked. Marcel's face flushed in embarrassment and annoyance.
"What do you think you're doing?" he demanded, pushing her off the desk. She landed gracefully, looking supremely unconcerned despite his award-winning glare.
"I was sitting with you, waiting for close to start," she said, looking mildly confused. Marcel, incredulous, pointed to the chair next to him.
"Sit IN the desk, not ON it," he said, turning back to his book. Fayline sat in the desk and looked back at Marcel.
"What are you reading?" she asked interestedly. A vein pulsed angrily on Marcel's forehead.
"Why are you still talking to me?" he demanded, not looking up from behind the safety of his tome. Fayline shrugged.
"Isn't that what friends do?" she said, as if it were quite obvious. She turned away at the sounds of "Tohsaka" and "Alba," thus missing Marcel's stunned look.
"F-friends?"
-----------
"You're the heirs of Tohsaka and Alba?" Fayline asked Rin and Cornelia. "I've heard about you from my parents. It's a pleasure. I'm Fayline E-"
She stopped short, then covered up her momentary slip with a laugh.
"Well, I don't put much stock by last names. You can just call me Fayline."
There wasn't much time to follow up as a boy about Fayline's age with silver hair wandered in, immediately catching her eye. Her eyes followed him like magnets as he took his seat. Behind him came their teacher, an eccentric man with long red hair and a mask on half of his face.
"Good morning. I am Alistair Carlyle, your teacher on spiritual evocation, the study of the summoning of spiritual beings."
He looked around the class and smiled, which made a few of the students shiver.
"Now, how many of you have experience with summoning spiritual beings?"
He smirked as his eyes met Rin Tohsaka's. He had heard from Zelretch that she'd participated in the Heaven's Feel, the pinnacle of spiritual evocation.
"How about you?" he said, pointing at Rack, who he thought curiously old for this class.
"Nice to meet you Fayline. You can call me Rin." she said with a smile, Fayline's little comment about she not caring much about names made her much more relaxed about her. However Cornelia was a bit displeased, she would much prefer to have the family name, but she doesnt question her as the teacher had arrived.
Rack sighs at the teacher "Can I just say I'll pass?" he said with a troublesome tone and then sighs again seeing he cant escape "Sure, I've had a few experience with summoning spiritual beings."
He sees the teacher making a gesture for him to come to the his side to prepare the ritual, but Rack kindly rejects the offer "I do not require such complicated means." he out right declared.
Both Rin and Cornelia glare at Rack's word, Rin being used to the summoning ceremony knew very well how important it was to have a ritual, and Cornelia having a father that was highly fond with familiars also proved her that a ritual was of extreme importance.
Rack casually grabs his cane and taps it on the floor three times, a sudden gush of air starts to build as a giant black ball materializes from thin air in the middle of the class. Rack notices most people were looking a bit disappointed as if not seeing the point of making a giant ball. However Rack simply yawns and declares "Pride wake up."
At those words a massive presence takes form in the room "Is this some kind of cruel joke?" words fly through everyone's head making them shocked, Rack without much of a preparation maneged to summon a spirit with such high levels of prana. Even Rin who had already seen monstrosities in massive quantities of prana could not understand how Rack had maneged to summon it, all she could think was that the cane he used could be some kind of Mystic Code. However Cornelia was even more surprised, having never met something with these level of prana and with such a comical summoning, she felt like everything she was studying for was all for nothing.
"What ever do you mean?" Rack said in a neutral tone to the spirit "YOU DARE TO SUMMON ME! I THE KING OF DESTRUCTION! SUMMONED FOR SOMETHING SO USELESS AS A DEMONSTRATION! DO YOU HAVE NO SHAME IN SUMMONING MY GREATNESS!!!" words carried with bloodlust fly through the room giving most the students shills. Rack simply smirks "It is because you are the greatest that I summon you. What better way to show my capacity than to summon the ultimate being?" Rack said, Rack was satisfied by the results, by using his cane he was able to full most in thinking that he used a Mystic Code, not only that Pride was capting all attentions, in other words people were simply to mesmerized to even notice something as simple as Rack missing a leg, not to mention with the fact that he was on his seat would make it hard for anyone to notice even if they were looking that direction.
"Hmph. I see you tongue is as good as ever. So I believe that this little play is over. I will be leaving." declared Pride. Without even waiting for Rack's approval the ball disappears and materializes as Rack's leg without anyone noticing. "Was that enough of a demonstration?" Rack said back to his neutral tone, leaving the whole class in shock.
Alistair stared at the spot where the one called "Pride" had been. He had initially been prepared to mock this intruder into his class, then become quite annoyed with his lack of regard for a superior magus and teacher. But then this. This man was certainly an enigma. Was he playing some kind of game? Was he really a full-fledged magus spying here at the academy? How had he summoned such a creature with only the tap of a cane? Even Alistair's own Mystic Code, one of the most powerful of the spiritual evocation types, could not produce a summoning ritual quite that quickly.
"You, what is your name?" he demanded, eyes fixed on Rack. He needed to know more about this singularly intriguing individual.
Meanwhile Marcel had managed to lose his book as he stared at where that monstrous spirit had been. He had broken out in a cold sweat, his mind a feverish mess.
"Have I been wrong this whole time?" he wondered. "With all the time and effort I put into my magecraft, I'm still nowhere near that kind of level. Is it really impossible for me to rise to the level of these big-name magi?"
Rack makes a troublesome face, he really couldnt understand why magus putted so much work in the name, then again since he was never in to the magus society he of course could never come to fully understand their nature. Giving a sigh Rack states "Rack Morto...." he said not particularly interested.
However Cornelia and Rin were already trading words trying to figure out what kind of Mystic Code he could have used, such powerful item was bound to be known, but nothing came to their minds, sure there were items that could summon particular beings, but so fast and such levels, it just incomprehensible.
Cornelia asks in a low tone so no one else could hear but Rack "Rack what the heck did you just use?"
"Nothing." he said immediately in a bored tone as if he wasnt paying attention.
"What you mean nothing?! There's no way you could do it that fast without help?!" Cornelia protested in a low voice.
"Yet I did." again Rack showing no weakness or hesitation.
"Grrrr. Hmph I thought you said you didnt lie." she declared now pissed cause Rack didnt want to tell her the truth.
"And I dont~" Rack seemed to be enjoying the result of the conversation.
Cornelia made a stupid face not understanding the meaning behind the words, in truth Rack had not lied once yet, but she didnt knew that, in fact she couldnt even think the possibility of him doing it alone even possible "You....Your making fun of me arent you?"
Rack smirks "Not intentionally"
"Morto..." Alistair said, eyes fixed on Rack. The name was familiar. They had used some sort of weather magecraft, he had heard. But they had never been known for spiritual evocation and summoning, at least to Alistair's knowledge. For another thing, the age seemed off. He'd heard that tragedy had hit the Morto family. Accounts varied from the lineage being completely wiped out to their sole child being left. But the age seemed off. Rack seemed hardly a few years younger than Alistair himself, which was quite impossible.
"I see," Alistair said after a moment, his eyes cold. Then suddenly they lit up as he grinned another chesire cat-like grin, making the class shiver again.
"Well, Rack, I'll see to it yet that I get you as my apprentice!" he declared, pleased at finally having found a worthy specimen.
Fayline blinked, surprised that in the first class teachers were already scouting for apprentices. She looked over at Rin and Cornelia, quietly discussing Rack's Mystic Code. She started to lean over in an attempt to gain entrance to the conversation when Alistair spoke again, causing her to retreat back to her original position.
"I would like to demonstrate for you all my ultimate familiar, but sadly 90% of the class would perish the instant I summoned him," Alistair said, almost cheerfully.
"What is that?" a female student asked from the back, her voice almost squeaking in fear.
"Basilisk, Crown of the Serpent God!" Alistair declared dramatically. "A snake familiar with Kybele Mystic Eyes. Most of you would be petrified instantly, but a few unfortunate ones would live long enough to feel the cold terror as your life slipped away into stony silence."
You could have heard a pindrop in the class as everyone stared their strange teacher. He suddenly turned on his heel and walked toward the door.
"Class dismissed!" he said, throwing open the door as the class immediately burst into frenzied talk.
