"The winter is almost over. Tomorrow, I will march along with my army towards Sparta. I will obliterate them. The Gods have grant me their power so I could cleanse the land from scums like them. Ah, yes. This is what I am meant to do. The early winter worried me a little bit but... what am I thinking? We are the new Gods. Why would that be a godly omen? Tomorrow... I will finally be victorious... Wait for me... Demos."

The tall man wrapped the sheet of paper and walked away. The sun rose in the distance, illuminating the man's golden long hair. The golden buildings, on the other way, were illuminated in a similar fashion. "General!" Shouted a voice. The man looked straight forward, facing a tired-looking soldier.
"Yes?" Said the man, staring at the soldier with a slight hint of disgust.
The soldier panted, he lowered his body and breathed heavily as he supported is hands on his knees to avoid collapsing. "General Themistoklis... The men... Have grown eager... They started... Fighting..." He finally spoke, grasping his breath after each set of words.
The tall man closed his eyes and walked by, as he shook his head. "Let them fight. Those who will fall shall have no place in the battle tomorrow."

What kind of reply was that? Is that really the man they call Themistoklis? The kind and friendly general of Athens that everybody loves? Sadly, the answer is yes. This is what power does. This is how it corrupts a person. Because power corrupts everyone. Even the Gods themselves.

Suddenly, the man stopped and turned his head. "Soldier! Announce the games. The winner will have the honor of fighting alongside with me tomorrow." Said Themistoklis. The soldier lowered his head and ran towards the town. Themistoklis turned his head again, looking over the horizon in Sparta's direction. "Wait for me... Demos!"

At the same, on the other side of Themistoklis' gaze, stood King Demos. If the two were next to each other, their eyes would certainly meet. Demos' stare was deadly, however. His eyes alone bred fear into the other's soul. Suddenly, a thud distracted Demos' focus. He turned behind to see his most trusted man, Simeon. "What is it?" The King asked. His voice heavy and deep, it would certainly echo if it was louder. Simeon rose back to his feet. "King Demos. The soldiers are growing weary for tomorrow. They are not sure if we can take the Athenians... I mean with their powers and-"
"If they hesitate then tell them to stay home and **** their wives. There's a battle they may win. Hmph! Hades gave us enough power to reach their level. We could defeat them before... What is stopping us now?!" The King angrily said, interrupting the young soldier's words.
"But my King, they need something to boost their morale. After the last... Incident, it has fall rather low." Replied the young man, his lips slightly trembling. But then he smiled, as an idea was pierced into his mind out of nowhere. "My King! We should start the games, so the men can fight and hopefully get their morale back!"
"Hm. That does not sound bad at all. We'll have some fun before the grand battle. I like it! Go announce it, now."

Then, at almost the same time, the same thing was announced both in Olympus and Sparta.

"There will be games today! Fight and prove that you're worthy of fighting alongside with General Themistoklis/King Demos!

The news of the games soon reached the temple. It was a nameless temple, designed to pay tribute to all the gods, instead of a single one. After all, hardly any believed in their guidance anymore. One temple would do, where the used to be dozens. And in charge of what used to be such an important system, was the priestess Aurora, gifted the post-name 'Light' in an almost mockingly symbolic way of her persistance and views. The news of the games was not brought on by someone who wished to worship; it was merely a friend of hers who had brought her something to eat and chat for a while.

She would not participate. There was no good reward. There was no good reason, as well. What was the point of fighting amongsts one's allies? But even though she did not like it, Aurora would not protest it. She saw how others reasoned, and it disgusted her. There was simply no changing them, not en masse. One person at a time, and even then people wouldn't listen to her. So trying to stop "The Games" was just as pointless as participating in them.

Instead, Aurora would just sit in her lonely temple on the hill, waiting for any souls who would wander in. Whether they earnestly wanted the blessing of the gods, came out of pure habit, or simply to just put hope in something they didn't believe in, The Priestess would welcome them.

An old man walked into the temple, his decrepit body hunched over, his stickly legs barely seemed to hold his body up. He entered the temple, and slowly looked around. He spotted the priestess and gave her a toothless smile, nodding in greeting. He stood there for a while looking around the temple, his hand clasped behind his back. "My, how the days have changed." His voice came out in a soft rasp. "A single temple dedicated to the gods, who have disappeared." His wrinkled eyes seemed unfocused, as if he was staring into space. "Where did they go, and why?" He remained a bit longer, before bowing his head to the priestess and slowly walked out.

After walking back into the main part of the city, the old man turned down an alleyway. After checking to see if anyone was watching, the old man suddenly seemed to shrink into himself. A second later, the old man was replaced with a rat, who crawled into a mouse hole in the wall. Once in the building, the rat grew in size, changing from a tiny rat to a humanoid rat, till finally finishing in his human form. He ran a hand through his turquoise hair. His hair was one of his most distinguishing features, the other was his eyes. It wasn't that his eyes were bright gold, but that his iris split his pupil in half, like a golden bridge over a black pit. The man opened a door and entered his office. He looked at the stack of papers on his desk. He sat in his chair, and looked through them. Two papers caught his eye. "How interesting. Both the Athenians and Spartans are holding 'games'. Of course the Athenians have an incentive, getting to fight beside the king. How droll." Of course, it would attract many Athenians for such a prestigious role. Well, most. He grinned. "I'd partake myself, but such a role would not be in my favor in the long run." He put the papers down, and leaned back in his chair, yawning. He looked to his left, where a small shrine to Plutus stood. He stared at it for a while. He then sighed and stood up. "The games should at least be interesting to watch, if nothing else."

A resounding chorus echoed out among the latest Spartan recruits as they were in the midst of their training. "We must be swift as the coursing river! With all the force of a great typhoon! With all the strength of a raging fire! Mysterious as the dark side of the moon!" One man stood out from all of the rest, the one leading this pack of greenhorns. His voice was not the easiest on the ears, but it had something special to it that draws one in. After giving out orders, he could not help but sing, "Be a man", during the chorus. Before the song was over, a man had approached him, Simeon. "Ah, Simeon, my good friend. What news do you bring me?" Learning of the games that were proposed, Epideksios' eyes glimmered brightly, and a light smile flickered across his face. "SPARTANS! There shall be games hosted today, and for those of you that dare, you may join. Most of you are not experienced enough in real combat, so it will be a good chance for you. If you are too afraid to join in, I would advise you all to watch and learn. I, for one, shall be participating. You are dismissed for today.

It was only recently that Epideksios realized the power within his gloves. He looked at his fists, and there was a sliver of a shard within each one, shimmering in the light. Hermes' Gloves, Epideksios called them, for they gave him speed and wit, allowing him to dodge things he was normally not able to. "This will be my chance to get more accustomed to this power, and test out what my Spartan brothers have acquired." He began walking to where the games were going to be held, and not wondering who all would participate, he nonchalantly began singing robustly again. "I have often dreamed, of a far off place, where a great welcome will be waiting for me. Where the crowds will cheer when they see my face, and a voice keeps saying, 'This is where I'm meant to be'..." Those lyrics spontaneously came to his mind, and he took a moment to note, "Wow, I should remember this one for the future!"

Dawn of a new day at the end of winter, a ceramics warehouse in the merchant quarter, Olympus

Two guards lazily leaned against the gate into the warehouse, yawning heavily. The night shift was almost over and they looked forward to a good sleep. The girl one shivered a little in an occasional gust of wind; it still retained the freezing winter temperatures this early in the day. The girl pushed her helmet a bit back and scratched her forehead, listening to the sleepy complaints of her colleague. "Where in the Underworld are Nikandros and Abrax? I'm freezing here and my wife is waiting for me with hot food at home..." The young ward nodded from time to time to appear like she was listening, but in fact, most of the ramble flew right over her head. She wouldn't let something as small as a bit of lateness spoil her mood. Just as she slid her helmet back on properly and stomped her legs a few times to warm up, she could hear the perpetrators hastily approaching. "Cheer up Orestes, they're here now," she patted her unhappy companion on the shoulder and waved to the other two merrily. The rays of the sun got stronger and began to heat up the guards all the way to their bones.

Immediately after the newcomers caught their breath, they started to explain the reason for their lateness excitedly. Apparently, there were to be games later today, and the winner could march to battle with Themistoklis himself. Even though simple hired guards as themselves didn't even dream of participating, they were still unhappy that they won't be able to watch. Orestes rushed off to get his food and get his young wife for an outing, forgetting all about his tiredness, and Dido, the young girl guard, waved good bye to the two unfortunate replacements that will have to miss all the fun and pulled her legs towards the common barracks for the guards of the merchant district, basking in the sunlight. Taking off the helmet and letting her hair loose, she resembled an Amazon. There weren't many people on the streets yet, so she could enjoy the pleasure of freely splashing her face with the water from a fountain undisturbed. Now completely rejuvenated, she laughed aloud and spun on the spot from the sheer happiness of being alive before turning into the yard of the barracks.

Once there, she could see that everyone was awake, rather unusually. Correctly guessing it was because of the games, she exchanged greetings with a few other guards she knew from her previous jobs and sat down to eat. Half a bread and a piece of cold mutton from the day before disappeared surprisingly quickly for a girl. She then downed a pitcher of milk and grabbed a few apples from the table before heading to her assigned corner. There, she could finally get out of her armour. First, she removed the arm's guards and placed them in the chest. Then she sat down and peeled the leg counterparts off her feet. Finally, she pulled the leather armour over her head and threw it after the rest of the equipment into the chest. After freshening up a bit, she slipped into her turquoise dress and tied her hair; suddenly, there was nothing to suggest she was not a lady from upper society, bar the inconspicuous sword that was hidden in the layers of her skirt. But you wouldn't notice that unless you looked extra carefully.

The last thing to do before going out again was tying her sandals. With the apples in a small pouch hung on her belt, Dido left the barracks. The streets now were already crowded; most people were heading to the arena, either as the participants of audience. Dido had the same intention. She considered a nice fight as good an entertainment as any other Athenian, though she didn't feel the urge to participate. This was mainly because of the purpose of the games though; she had no reason to participate in this war with Sparta. She didn't see any reason for it, and was too busy trying to find clues about where did the Gods disappeared to to waste time on such silly matters. With similar thoughts filling her head, she headed towards the arena, her mood unspoiled by them, since she was content with the way she dealt with things. She had a stable, well-paid job and a lot of free time. No reason to change anything about the current status quo. She smiled and sped up slightly, seeing her destination in front of her eyes now.

It was the day before the battle and Gen was still bored of the everyday dribble life had become. It was endless battling weaker people and not finding the one he sought. Even after gaining the power he now owned, it was still hard to find the one that could match him in battle. As he leaned against a tree and heard Demon speak, a little smile came across his face. It seemed they were to be a part of a game for the honor to fight beside him. Gen didn’t care much about that, it was the idea that he may come across that person if he was beside him.” This will be a way to draw out the one I seek, Neto will taste blood soon enough.” Gen said as he looked upon his blade.

“This game, I will join.” Gen calls out to whoever he needs to tell. Looking at his brother and his enemies, Gen thought about what’s to come. He knew during these games to only show half of what he could do. There was no need to go hard against his own and he did not want to show his foes he true power. They would get enough of a show when they saw ho special his weapon truly was. He himself did not even know the type of blade he had, gut he was sure that no one else held such a weapon. If only her would have had it when he was in that one battle, the battle that slower wraps the thoughts of his mind.

It didn't take long for the new of the 'games' to scatter across all of Olympus, all except one place. A small modest bakery shop that few people seemed to visit. Inside of it large stone ovens are heated with a mighty breath. Arcantas, taking a deep breath, spits intense flames inside the oven, controlling the temperature of the flames, enough just to heat the stone walls, but not enough to melt them.

She was in the process of baking the first batch of bread. The process of bread making was normally a patience and attention game, normally one would make a fire inside the oven and close it off. Trapping the heat inside, the ashes and remains of the fire would be cleaned away and the lumps of bread would be placed inside for the hot walls to bake them.

But Arcantas could skip allot of that, with a single breath, the walls were hot and the batch was placed inside. Now she simply had to wait, her years of practice and experience would pay off short and the first batch was done. It was much bread, but then again, she stopped making large quantities back when most of her costumers left. If more bread if needed, she can just bake more in the spot anyway, although making the costumer wait was never ideal.

One thing that seemed to be recently helping in attracting more costumers is the temperature. Although Winter is ending the days still tend to be relatively cold, and inside the bakery it was warm, allot warmer than outside anyway. And what can be better in a cold day, than eating delicious warm bread in a warm place.

Although she fears that this will have the opposite effect during Summer.

Papaya was alone, training by himself in his room. The dummy near the door was covered in slashes and holes from being stabbed multiple times. Bashing the dummy backwards with his shield, it swung backwards nearly reaching the ground. As it swung to return to its normal position, Papaya grabbed his whip and lashed it out at the dummy. It was hit several times, moving left and right from the force of the attacks.

"Expert fighting skills and looks that surpass even the most handsome god, I truly am the greatest man alive," Papaya said to himself.

From outside, he could hear a messenger going through the town announcing the beginning of games for the spartan warriors. The prize was being able to fight alongside the King Demos. A prize any Spartan would be willing to die for.

"Prove myself able to fight alongside him? I don't need to prove anything, but I'll humor the others."

Papaya sheathes his sword and places it on his back along with his shield. His whip, he keeps on his waist for easy access. Leaving his room, he heads to the area where the games would take place.

A small twisting winter wind moved through the streets of Sparta, down through the cramped and dark alleys, and into one of the cities many gymnasiums. The little wind swirled around the building brushing agasint and grazing the many Spartan children who were working up a sweet training and toning their young bodies so they would grow into mighty Spartan adults. The children of Sparta would train their bodies in places like this when they weren't distracted by their other social duties, for the young boys this was obviously warrior training. To learn how to survive, fight, and show no fear. For the girls though it involved them simply learning how to run a house hold properly and future preparation to be a Spartan bride, but more so then the boys the girls less strenuous schedules usually ended up with them gaining a higher education then the average spartan male, which a lot of times ended up making the women of Sparta more politically aware and knowledgeable. The little wind continued to move along and swiftly exited the gymnasium into the next building right next to, almost connected to, the gymnasium. Steam arose from this this building and the sound of running water mixed with the chit chat of groups of individuals filled the air. This bath house had a particular design to it, it was almost like a checker board lay out with twelve separated squares each being its own bath, convenient for small groups who wanted to bath and keep on a private conversation. As the little winter wind moved through the heated bathing area one after another the naked Spartans felt a little shiver which made them lower themselves even more into the heated water, or even made them enter the water if they had not already been in at that time. All but one person in the bath had felt the wind for only one person was completely submerged in the water. Off to one of the corners of the bath house, there was a square bath that seemed to not have anyone in it, well you would have to actually walk up to it to notice that it was occupied. In the bottom of the bath laying on the floor completely submerged in the heated water was a young girl that most Spartans knew of all to well, and she had been laying underwater staring up at the designs on the ceiling for about ten minutes now.

This girls name was Victoria, a girl who many people in Sparta looked at or treated much differently then most young girls. Victoria was not just the daughter of Sparta's warrior king Demos but she was also a half god , a demi-god. Victoria had felt quite bored this morning so she had decided to go over to the gymnasium right next to the bath house, she had gone to that specific one because it was a gymnasium that was mainly used by children around her own age, she had thought maybe she would relieve some boredom and a little stress, but she knew she was being to hopeful. Most other children avoided her, for the most part, the young girls would not train with her or wrestle with her for they knew they would just lose or end up getting hurt, and the young boys who for most were already taking part in warrior training, it was not that they feared getting hurt its just they didn't want to be beaten by a girl. Bubbles busted on the surface of the bath as Victoria released a little bit of air, she could last quite a while underwater she was partially a child of the sea after all, but she did have to eventually come up for air. It wasn't only the heritage from her mother that people judge about her it was also partially her father. It wasn't that she was treated unfairly or cruel, far from it, though it was more like a mixed bag with how those around her saw her. Some looked at her with scorn, since she only had half Spartan blood, for others it was the godly blood which made them uneasy. Some feared her, they feared a being with godly blood walking amongst them, the fear for the most part was in the hearts of the mothers, and the fathers that actually took part in their family togetherness, who didn't want their children harmed by her. Well for that part she really couldn't blame some people, their damn brats shouldn't have pissed her off those times. Others looked at her with admiration, for they saw her as a divine Spartan, while some would go out of their ways, needlessly most of the time, to gain her favor. And their were others, the ones Victoria liked the most, that just plainly didn't give a damn, She was the daughter of their king, therefor their princesses and that was good enough for them. But that mindset usually feel into the warriors and her fathers personal army. More often then not it was the Spartan soldiers she spent most of her time with, when she wasn't receiving her education which was carried out by appointed female servants, since her mother was obviously not around. She hated the female oriented education, she would much rather take part in the same training as the boys got, it seemed far more fun to her. Though its not like she never got training, since time to time Victoria did take sparing matches against some of her fathers men, such as Rexxar whom she found fun to wrestle against since he acted more like a beast then a man.

From under the water Victoria could hear the random commotion of chit chat from the other baths increase, it was a good time to get some more air anyway she thought. Springing upright and then quick standing, water dripped and steam flew from her body, Hot bathes were the best. Victoria looked around, and listened to the conversations around her it seems every one was very excited about something. Stepping out of her bath Victoria walked over to two much other women. "Hey whats everyone so excited about". One of the women jumped abit as she was started by Victoria's sudden presence, she hadn't noticed her it seemed, while the other one almost instantly responded. "Why its games my dear games, the King has announced that their will be games", the woman then quickly realized who she was talking to, and almost instinctively made it seem like she know from the start, Though to it was hard to not recognize her, she had rainbow colored hair after all. "Why ? didn't your father tell you, about the games, im sure he did didn't he, since the games are really exciting after all". The women was not one of the people that saw Victoria in a negative light she could tell those people by now, but she was one of those easily excitable almost always cheerful types, Victoria really didn't care for that type to much either. "No he hadn't", Victoria said to the lady "though he has seemed rather busy lately maybe he just forgot to mention it". With that Victoria moved away from the women, whom proceeded to start what seemed to be some mindless gossip that they had heard.

She really didn't care if her father hadn't told her about any games, he was busy after all, well most Spartan fathers weren't really in touch with their children much, Victoria was one of the lucky ones she guessed, even if she saw her fathers soldiers more often then she saw him himself. Strapping on her sandals, so her feet wouldn't get to dirty, Victoria left the bath house with her clothes held to her side. There really was no real reason to put them back on anyway, since especially here in Sparta nudity was quite common place for game times, especially for the children, whom were almost always unclothed during events. She was still somewhat bored, but more or less she was also agitated at those damn whinny brats who wouldn't play with her. Though these games themselves were more meant for the the adults, and more precisely the Spartan warriors, Victoria was determined to compete in them as well. Hell who was going to stop her anyway, if they tried to deny her entry because of her age and gender she would make them regret it, she was already sorta pissed, but she really just wanted people to play with, and the only fun she could seem to find was when she was competing with the warriors, everyone else was just to fragile.
