firstly lemmie make it clear the knomaru wasn't even a logical choice, he's a loser, period, no questions asked... but i think that id choose sasuke... because hopefully he comes back by the end of the series, and he's mega strong, equal to kakashi, and naruto... plus he has sharingan, and also the uchicha clan (assuming it gets resurrected) would trust the village if one of their people became the hokage...

Seeing as Hokage's should not really be directly involved in battle he makes a logical choice to me if they organized their system better, which he could do. He is not weak just that stragedy is his best weapon. I do see him as an advisor as well, I always said that if Naruto made it to Hokage I would see Shika as his advisor, and Naruto would need him, I can't see Naruto doing anything that involves the political side of running things other then peace negotiations lol.

Why shouldn't Hokage be directly involved in combat? They're the trump card of the village. The nuclear option. They're a symbol of strength to a militaristic society. Yes, he's weak. Strategy being his best weapon doesn't stop all his other ones from being mediocre.

How often are country leaders directly involved in battle, it makes more sense to keep the leader safe so they can lead, not involve them in battle. This is something I could see Shika putting into place.

They're village leaders and the village is a military base. It's not like a kage runs to the battlefield for every little thing anyway. Anyway you're not spitting out some great revelation. They'd know that their leaders are more likely to die if they fought. That's obviously the type of leaders they want. They live in a militaristic society. Power is one of the most respectable things to them. Think of SS in Bleach. Do you think someone like Kenpachi would follow someone like Mayuri? Yamamoto is the captain commander because he's super strong and thus commands the respect and obedience of all his fighters.

Yamamoto does hold his seat because he's the strongest, yes, but also because he's an admired leader and teacher. If power was all it took, more people would have defected to Aizen ![]() Same goes for the Hokage. Sure, strength is important, The kage has to be someone the others can look up to, and for ninjas skill and wit are just as important as power. But most importantly, it has to be someone loyal, someone who can deal with other villages, and someone who cares about the good of the village.
