Synopsis
Through the introduction of his friend Danma Ryuji (Shirota Yu), Onizuka Eikichi (AKIRA), the former legendary bike gang member, visits Meishu Academy to tend to the trees in the garden as a part-time gardener. Learning that Yoshikawa Noboru (Nakagawa Taishi), a student in teacher Fuyutsuki Azusa’s (Takimoto Miori) class is being bullied by Uehara Kyoko (Shinkawa Yua) and other classmates, Onizuka befriends and saves Yoshikawa. Seeing Onizuka’s unprecedented but visceral, powerful response to problem solving, the school’s president and principal, Sakurai Yoshiko (Kuroki Hitomi), overrides resistance from her vice principal Uchiyamada Hiroshi (Tayama Ryosei) and makes Onizuka a teacher. Onizuka goes on to tackle many issues as the teacher in charge of the most problematic class, Class 2/4.

as a fan of the original IMO this is turning out to be a good remake of the original. They threw 2 SS, 2 juniors, AKIRA, Yusuke, Yu and they had me hook.

AKIRA I feel is doing the character justice

I was surprised but it IS actually doing good so far, but I think I like the supporting characters more than the new Onizuka. I really like Takimoto Miori <3

Just finished it. Pretty damn amazing drama. Ep 11 had one of the best fight scenes I've ever seen in a jdrama, extremely good choreography.

Can't wait for the special.

I finished it this morning too.
I originally planned to give it an 8 on MDL. I thought it was good but not amazing. But after watching the final episode i decided to give it a 9.
T'was amazing!
The last episode actually brought me to tears at one point and omg, the amount of times i had shivers down my spine.

I swear it would be sooo awesome if schools and teachers where like those in Jdramas!

Just finished.

I don't know the manga or anime, but some episodes from the previous drama with Sorimachi Takashi. So I was a little bit doubtful about AKIRA playing this special teacher. I thought he would be too old for this role. But the very first minutes I changed my mind: He was perfect fitting in it!

The last episode was full of action and emotional moments, but some little things were strange:

A man lying in a coma - after a surgery on his brain - stands up quickly, removes his bag valve mask and tube without the machine noticing it, finds his bike out of somewhere and appears just the moment the danger is at a high point. The woman watching this man in the hospital and loosing track of him because of a telefone call comes right after him into the room, she must have teleported or something like this.

Well, this were my thoughts by watching it, but I really loved this last episode, it ended the drama in a wonderful way.

I've finished it this night. Couple of years ago I've watched the anime and read eleven toms of manga. However, I don't want to rate GTO 2012 in comparison to these.
New Onizuka is not bad. Actually is quite good, however some of situations were so unreal or everything looked so artificial. For example the moment when they struggled with steel rope to help theirs friend. Except this kind of shortcomings I like it a lot. Plot is pretty omoshiroi, characters, fights too.
For me it's 8,5/10.

currently on episode 5..it's very good and some dialouges and scenes remind me of Gokusen.
