Dynasty Warriors

Ok so did a search didn't see a thread for this so tossing one out there. I remember playing one of the PS2 DW back in the day and even though it wasn't great their was something to be said for the mindless hack and slash button mashing.

That said I started looking into the games again and was thinking of getting the most recent version Dynasty Warriors 7. So I started looking for gameplay footage and or reviews and found this one...

I thought it was rather informative and since I weigh story content almost higher then game play in games I get I was thinking I could over look all the bad points this particular in depth and funny review listed. But I wanted to get others opinions here that might have the game and what they think? Should I blow the 40 bucks or wait a year tell number 8 comes out?

It's pretty decent. I can agree on most parts of that review as well. I felt the game was better than 6 for the story element, though not in combat. Don't get me wrong I HATED the clone characters but I loved the Ranbu system in 6, gave my combos diversity and made me all the more powerful. I thought it was better than 6 in story because instead of playing a singular character through musou mode, you instead pick your faction. Wei, Wu, Shu or Jin and play through the larger events in the story with a multitude of different characters from that faction.

I remember playing as Zhao Yun in one battle, where he had to race along to rescue and protect Liu Shan in the battle of Chang Ban. You do that until you reach the Chang Ban Bridge where Zhang Fei awaits you. A short load screen later you're playing as Zhang Fei in his biggest feat of awesome within the game, when you fight to repel the Wei forces single handed so that Liu Bei may escape.

You shall not pass!

Buying it is up to you, I liked it. I still haven't defeated the conquest mode so there's still stuff for me to do in the game. Wouldn't wait for 8 though, that could be another 2 years away.

This game has more grinds than my local skate park.

I don't think I've played any Dynasty Warriors since the fourth one, but I hated Lu Bu. D:

I have played the newest Romance of the Three Kingdoms though, and didn't care for it much. m.m

this game is the simplest game on the planet, never an award winner, always one of my personal favorites. end-o-story

The main game is so bad and boring. But I love the Xtreme and Empire ones... m.m
