Funny, never thought of Mance as 'young'. I think it was something in the first description of him that formed a picture of a jolly oldish man with a scraggly beard and with greying hair, a tad round in the middle but with a sturdy and towering body. A jolly old laugh and smile that would warm your heart... My almost literal impression of Thoros though Spoiler

So today I read that the actor who plays Ilyn Payne has cancer and won't be having chemo. Sad stuff.
