Poetry Competition - Special Edition

Rules:

• The poll will close on 1st November 2011.
• This is a special edition. The author names is visible because you already voted once for this poems in each edition
• Contestants may not vote for their own poem, no matter how good they think it is.
• Please try to read the poems fully to give everyone a fair chance (this is not an actual rule, people should take everybody into consideration).
• Don't vote for a poem because you know it's your friend's poem (may lead to disqualification).
• All kinds of poems are accepted.
• Don't post anything to insult the author (your vote will not count).
• If you vote, leave a comment (possibly with reason, discussion, etc..).

Welcome to Eden.

Welcome to Eden, my sweet little Eve.
Father made you with love; kindness so pure.
Why did he discard me; tell me to leave?
It must be your fault, of this I am sure!

You’re his tomorrow, I am his regret.
This pride of mine, it has pushed me downwards
Away from his side, and he did beget
An existence so fragile: wingless birds.

I wish to give you a gift: something black,
One taste will lead you astray; let’s begin.
A step down this road and you can’t turn back;
I give to you this original sin.

Now you are as fallen as I, sweetheart.
With your innocence lost: you’ve played your part.

Captive Heart

Here I am again devoured by this,
Uncertainty dispelled by my love's kiss.
Released from solitary deep within,
She casts her charming spell on me again.
Guilty of wanting to walk by her side,
Stirred up emotions that I cannot hide.
Her smile goes on a hunt for my sadness,
Taking it away now filled with gladness.
My hand is soon hers as we progress forward,
Our imaginations fly high like a bird.
Seeing it all looking into her eyes,
Praying that we never say our goodbyes.
Embracing our bright future together,
My captive heart here with hers forever.

The mute messenger

An empty envelope that carries no thoughts
How could you reply?
In the end, there's not even a single word which you could deny
Like a carpet on top of a hole in the floor
Leading to home, welcoming you with a silent door

Your pen can only draw a heavy cold line
Was there not enough ink?
Or perhaps, it is also fine...
To come up with no words

Embrace your memories folded in two
Whom to send them? It is all up to you
It is a display of gray, frozen in time
But against the silver, it's almost like a crime
Without a source, you thought
It would be easy to throw a ship off from it's course

You leave your keys at home on purpose
The release of silence was not enough
All by yourself, no one could hear your bluff

Your heart is about to erupt
A mute soul leads to a war of the corrupt
You think an empty envelope is a cliche
But perhaps, it is still ok...
To come up with no words

Tortuous Melody

The melody I play on this piano
Never have I felt so depressed
The lyrics speak of hidden things
Only you may see
And yet, you’re not here

A soft beginning speaks of soft caresses
Of light nothings and slight kisses
Motioning towards happier days
When this mesmerizing song
Would not haunt my sleep
Ripping happy dreams to shreds

Then the steps between the notes get longer
Dark echoes resonate from my left hand
Small pinpricks of hope from my right
Why must my hands continue to play?
Hour upon hour they flicker
Along black and white rending my mind in two

My eyes betray me
While my hands play this tearful melody
They roam this room
Catching every inch of anger-induced shattered glass
Each piece acting as a mirror reflecting my woeful existence
My water stained cheeks and dead eyes

Through the mist of tears and sunlight
A flash of colour in a monochrome world caught my eye
A delicate, dying purple lilac
Lay before the door
When had that beauty invaded my world?
Who would have thought to do such a thing?

My hands froze above the keys
My eyes were locked on those flowers
Memories invaded my mind sewing it back together
Memories that finally freed me from my curse
I finally stopped playing that tortuous melody…

The End

Life is a burning flame
But yet it always will be the same
So beautiful, you want to fix your gaze
So deep, it only brings forth a haze

So little time you've kept a watchful eye
But the flame has already begun to die
You sit and think of progress you've made
As your vision slowly begins to fade

The body has weakened and starts to slip
As your hand falls from your loved one's grip
Eyes are wet from the tears they've cried
For you are the one who has left their side

But now, you are wide awake
So new your body begins to shake
The flame is lit and burns so bright
As you stare, it shows a new light

You learn again from times past
The morning dew, and the green of the grass
Such simple things, but you catch on fast
More and more as events come to pass

Once, your life had all but burnt out
But now you will rise and start to set out
Bearing witness to what was once the end
But realize you can only ever begin again

Hidden Memories

Seek and you will find
The key to the door
That holds the secrets
Locked within your mind

Things which are hidden
Locked away tight
You wonder through a maze
Memories clouded by webs
Spiders laying in wait

The key where you left it
Now covered in dust
Untouched for so long
The golden color
Has started to rust

Click is the sound
When you turn the key
Hestitating you look around

Will you be able to forgive
Or become bait
To the spiders who drain
Off the memories of hate

Will you remember
What you chose to ignore
Can you let it go
And smile once more

Your light

Seen yet completely unnoticed,
As if my shadow swallowed me within its darkness.
Fearing that I would never be missed,
I trudged through life, inching towards madness.

Walking slowly, burdened by dead weight,
Pain stabbing me with each forced breath,
I had resigned myself to my own cruel fate
As sole spectator of my lifelong death.

Finally, the sun pierces through, the sky turns blue,
A voice tells me it's not enough to just survive.
Your stretched out hand is reaching through,
Allowing me for the first time to feel alive.

You notice me and make me feel worthwhile.
You grab my hand and pull me off the cold floor.
You warm my heart with your radiant smile.
A few seconds of you and I can't see the darkness anymore.

My heart no longer feels heavy,
So I allow myself to tell you:
I am one of the lucky few
Because your light found me.

Voted 4 I remember that one really caught my attention the first time I read it, a poem that talks about playing music as a means of expressing emotion, I like that.
