They're really fun RPGs for the GBA. You lay as adepts, people who can use psynergy, an ability that allows one to control one of the 4 elements. I don't really want to tell you about the story so that you can find out for yourself by playing them. The battle system is what's really great about this series. You have your regular set of commands (attack, magic(or psynergy in this case), items, defend) and some interesting ones. The first is the Djinn system. Early on in the games you will start encountering these little monsters. After defeating them in a battle or solving a puzzle, you will be able to use them in battle as attacks. That doesn't sound that interesting, I know, but that's not all. Out of battle you "equip" different combination's of them to your characters to change their class. It's basically a new take on the job system from some other series. There are 28 in the first game (7 for each element) and 48 in the second (12 for each element). The second cool part to the battle system is the summoning system. I know what you're going to say, "But Ao-Ookami, that's been done in every series!", but there's a twist! You see, when your djinn are used in battle they go into a "set" mode. After enough of these are set you can use your summons! And they are epic indeed, just look up some on youtube or something. Another great part to the games is the fact you can use some of your abilities outside of battle. For instance, the move "whirlwind" when used out of battle can be used to clear away stuff in your way. This feature is used to create some great puzzles that you wouldn't normally see in a RPG. As for the graphics, they are probably the best on the GBA. Trust me on that. They are BEAUTIFUL! The characters are also some of the most memorable characters in an RPG. The whole series is a masterpiece and is a experience you won't forget. Disscus.

Yeah, they can be a little easy at times, but they are enjoyable. You should play the second one as well. In my opinion, it's the better one. Oh yeah two things I forgot. -Music is by Motoi Sakuraba (He did the music for the Tales of series) and it fits every scene like a glove. -Second game is twice as long as the first!

I actually didn't die a single time the whole game until I came up to Dulahann (or whatever his name is). In the first one, the only time I died was against the last boss. Those bastards and their final form, always got me.
