Arrow The Ultimate Console Guide

According to GamePro here are some stats about the current consoles.

Microsoft Xbox 360
Spoiler

Worldwide Sales: 20+ Million
Number Of Games: 600+

Strengths:

+ Diverse game library and robust graphics mean that the Xbox 360 is a well-rounded gaming console

+ The Xbox 360's controller naturally excels at action games of all types, particularly shooters such as Halo 3 or Gears of War

+ Xbox Live is still the best way to play games online with friends or strangers; it sets the standard for online gaming.

Weaknesses:

- Hardware quality is an ongoing concern, especially the dreaded "Red Ring of Death." If your Xbox 360 malfunctions, expect to wait weeks for a replacement.

- If you want to play games online, you must pay a $50 subscription fee every year for Xbox Live Access.

- No Blu-ray support or integrated Wi-Fi network connection. If you want your game console to be your entertainment hub, the Xbox 360 isn't the best choice.

What You Get:

Xbox 360 Console

Composite cable & Component cable (non-HD and HD)

Xbox 360 controller

Xbox 360 Headset (for online voice communication)

What you'll want to buy:

HDMI cable (for superior video on HD TV's)

Extra Xbox 360 Controller (for multiplayer games)

Wireless Networking Adapter (for online play over Wi-Fi)

Xbox Live Membership (for online gameplay)

120 GB Hard Drive (for extra space for movie and game downloads)

Sony PlayStation 3
Spoiler

Worldwide Sales: 14.5 Million
Number of Games: 180+

Strengths:

+ Diverse game library; hardcore action; RPGs, sports, and some excellent downloadable PSN games

+ Blu-ray disc allows for eye popping HD movies, as well as larger games with more content.

+ Support for MP3s, DiVX, Blu-ray, Bluetooth, movie downloads, games, and more mean the PS3 is a do-it-all entertainment hub.

Weaknesses:

- Price remains an issue; the PS3 is still the most expensive game console on the market.

- Online play isn't quite as robust or as full-featured as Xbox Live.

- More games are requiring installation, gobbling up gigabytes of the PS3's internal storage.

What You Get:

PlayStation 3 Console

Composite cable (non-HD)

Sixaxis or new DualShock 3 controller

What You'll Want To Buy:

HDMI or Component cable (for HD TVs)

Bluetooth headset (for online voice communications)

Extra DualShock 3 (for multiplayer games)

Nintendo Wii
Spoiler

Worldwide Sales: 28+ Million
Number Of Games: 275+

Strengths:

+ At $250, the Wii costs less than the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Gmaes generally costs a few buck less, too.

+ The Wii Remote is more immersive than a standard control pad because your motions control the on-screen actions.

+ Interesting peripherals, such as the fitness-based Wii Fit and the gun-like Zappper, make the Wii fun for non-gamers and gamers alike.

Weaknesses:

- Motion controls often feel tacked-on or awkward; only a handful of games make great use of the Wii Remote.

- The Wii doesn't output in high definition. Overall, its graphics aren't impressive compared to those of the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3.

- No fancy video downloads or DVD movie support here; the Wii is strictly a gaming system.

What You Get:

Wii Console

Composite cable (non-HD)

Wii Remote

Wii Nunchuck attachment

Wii Sports (pack-in game)

What You'll Want To Buy:

Component cable (for cleaner video and 480p support)

Extra Wii Remotes and Nunchucks (for multiplayer games)

SD card (extra storage space for downloads)

Sony PSP
Spoiler

Worldwide Sales: 37 Million
Number Of Games: 350+

Strengths/Weaknesses:

+ Console-quality graphics on the go!
- Many games lack innovation

What You Get:
$200 God Of War Blundle

"Kratos Red" PSP System

God of War: Chains Of Olympus

Syphon Filter: Combat Ops download voucher

Superbad UMD movie

PSP Charger

Nintendo DS
Spoiler

Worldwide Sales: 77 Million
Number Of Games: 575+

Strengths/Weaknesses:

+ Unique touch-screen control begets innovative titles.
- Extremely large library contains an alarming amount of crap.

What You Get:
$130 Basic System:

DS Lite System

DS Lite Charger

nintendo ds and sony psp..
arent consoles 0.0
and computer counts as a console

but the thing about the ds containing a library full of crap games
100% true
only a few games are good
like 10-30

i think these counts are more accurate:
wii= 32.7 million
xbox 360= 21 million
ps3= 15.6 million
from vgchartz.org
but sometimes they're wrong
like pokemon platinum selling 900 thousand in the first 2 days
-.- it sold 1.1 million on the first 2 days

No. Just no. The Xbox is about as diverse as FPSs to RPG-FPSs.

True, but it is free.

True. Even some Nintendo owned franchises fail to use them. (I'm looking at you SSBB)

So true...
