Now that I've stopped crafting items (again and again, just to get stats that are half decent) -- I'm quickly realising how poor the drop rates for any decent gear in general is.

I was struggling with my newly made Barb because literally no strength gear was dropping.

The best I got was 2str + 10 int chest.
I'm just glad I started saving gear from other characters.

I'm tempted to get this game since I liked diablo 2 back in the day but im concerned about the reports im hearing already of bot farmers and the RMAH they established. Though I can live with that as long as I don't have to worry about farmers PKers and crap randomly joining games I am in and making a mess of things like sometimes happened in D2. I've heard some people complain as well about the regular AH in the game, but from what I have seen I disagree with those complaints and see it as a good thing.

I'm also concerned about the reports of very very crappy drop rates for things making it so you have to spend a horribly awfully amount of time farming to get anything decent. I'm also concerned that with the Korean farming industry they will buy up everything good on the normal AH and put it all on the RMAH making it difficult for those of us that don't want to spend real money for things.

you can disable ppl joining in general (if friends want to join you are getting asked if you want to allow them)
PK and farmer meddling with your game is IMO not possible as well (except you are losing nice farmspots as well when the spot gets nerfed ^^)
yeah some gear in the AH is insanely overpriced
but you can still get pretty decent gear at an affordable price

drop rate: yeah it is save to call it underworldly at best (at least for decent gear) and thus it might be the only justification for the ridiculous amount of gold some players want their gear to sell for

but still:

without paying real money you can easily clear Normal - Hell difficulty (with some exception on special mob ability combo on certain classes)
Should you desire to go further you better farm at least a million gold first and try to get the best possible gear for that from the AH.
To at least get 1.Act Inferno to farmstatus
If that is not sufficient go back to Hell and farm some gold to cover repair expenses (grow higher with every difficulty, if you can not {easily} trash the mobs on Inferno you will even lose money)
Though i said that Inferno is already nothing short of calling it simply unfair
When you first get there you are ridiculously undergeared
the mobs are 5 times stronger than on hell (or maybe more dunno didnt really check) and that is just the impression of the second half of the 1. act
2. Act gets even harder -.-

If you are playing with a friend via teamspeak or sth it can still be quite entertaining cause of the sheer difficulty ^^

When i first entered Inferno it was at first not that bad as i thought but the mobs got stronger quite fast but even though me and my friend were undergeared we still managed to down the 1. act boss together at the 3rd attempt with changing gear, skill and strategy a bit
and that is still one of my favorite achievements ^^

though act 2 was impossible at that time
we got to the final boss by the strategy: any means necessary
if you got aggro you better die as far away as possible to let your partner pass safely ^^ and so on
but there was no way to down him ... heck we hardly managed the trash mobs that are with him

Yeah as Dellort said -- you can disable people from joining your games, and there's no PK (nor pvp, yet).
Drop rates are terrible, partly because of the stat mixing that gives... really terrible gear and partly because it doesn't give you the level gear you really need.

My friend said end game it can be called "World of Auction House".
It's still quite a fun game, though.
I've been playing on co-op and enjoying myself quite a lot (minus the terrible, terrible drops.)

i played for about 2 months straight when it came out, all day every day and i saw one crappy legendary. half my gear on my 60's came from other peoples pity when i would join my friends groups lol

needless to say i havent been playing lately lol

I just remembered that I dreamt I got a lot of Legendary items ;_;

Well I broke down and got the game, haven't played it yet since they are doing maintenance. Kind of annoyed that there doesn't seem to be a single player off line mode of play like with past diablos. Maybe they knew people would need the AH just to survive so they made it so you have to play online?

They did make the game so people would need the AH : o
It's a constant stream of money that isn't a subscription.

I vow to never buy anything off the RMAH, regular AH with in game gold sure, but I don't see paying anymore real money for in game items. I'll settle with never beating inferno before I would do that. If I wanted to pay a monthly subscription fee I'd start up WoW again.
