Default Story or Gameplay

both are important but...

I was thinking about final fantasy 13 and i became curious. I find the game is to focused on story
and not on game play, but not jus final fantasy other games as well. So i ask the question when u play a game
whats more important to u?

Depends on the genre mostly

platformer... who cares about the story
but with a RPG the story could make or break the game

for me it would be gameplay... Good story will only be an additional.. There are lots of good games without even a storyline. I mean you play the game because it's a game otherwise you'll just be pretty much following a story.

thats true but it seems that the game play is getting a lil sidetracked especially when dealing with and RPG though story can break a game i believe game play should be
priority.

not really.. well depends on the RPG but open RPG's are for the most part just given a general storyline.

I'll give pokemon for an example. Story is something you could care less about, the only thing you would care are trainers pitting up their pokemons.

Gameplay is the most important attribute, hence the word: game. If the mechanics are broken, or simply not fun, I'm not going to waste my time. Gameplay is what separates games from other forms of media, thus by default, it should receive the most refinement.

hmm gameplay

have you ever noticed that people get annoyed at making sequels for movies but dont get angry at making sequels for games?

Its probably because the story doesnt matter too much

Well put most of the time when a game is s**t the first thing some one says is the story sucked, or people knock off a game from their radar cause they the stories not all that. If you look at it some of the greatest games in history have had little story or the quality of its story has been questioned...

Story.

All game play no matter how refined will get repetitive over the course of a long game, as long as the mechanics are fine and polished, it's okay. Having a strong story backed with solid game play makes a game.

Although, when it comes to shorter games like God of War 3, game play is superb and comes first. My first play through I beat it in 9 or 10 hours. And every hour or so I'd get something new or a new mechanic would open up. It simply was not long enough to be considered repetitive.

Although, I have no tried it on Titan mode, but you don't play a game on the hardest difficulty because of game play or story.

Reason why story games beat out game play for me is because I usually go back and beat the story games again a few times.
