Yeah I was thinking that originally too but i was thinking there aren't enough people in the world like that, but now that I think about it ichigo is the only one known that was able to become a vizard with out the hogekyen (??) so I guess that makes more sense.

More like why he used the gigai. He never got any back, he just couldn't use them. If anything he lost some of his powers.

when he's a shinigami turned into a vasto lorde, shouldn't it be quite possible for him to also keep his zanpaktou?

also, hollow ichigo always stated he was part of zangetsu, which could mean that he's been devouring all the hollows that ichigo has ever slain

in any way it's pretty obvious that if he can't or wont get rid of the inner hollow, it will eventually become a vasto lorde since it would only add to the story and fill a few episodes / books with background story

This has been thought of many times, but there really has been no proof that it's actually true. In the lastest Bleach Chapters there was evidence to suggest that he may very well be a Vasto Lorde. But I don't think that is the whole case. Ichigo's new form looks like a Vasto Lorde and has the strength of one, but the catch is he still uses a sword. 'Why do you think he's any different from any other Vizard?' You ask, well that's because the way Ichigo's Hollow was created was much different from the way the Vizard were created. Ichigo lost his Shinigami powers and had to gain them back, to do this he had to train with Urahara. Tessai severed Ichigo's Chain of Fate which began the Encroachment and was comepletely eaten. However, Ichigo's change to a Hollow was very different from what it should've been as his mask was forming while his body was still in tact, as opposed to his body turning first and the mask last. This meant he was resisting -- though I think it could have been more than that.

That's really all there is too it now, if anyone has a theory on why or why not his Hollow is a Vasto Lorde or a new type please explain it here.

Firstly about ichigo's mask forming first thing you say it was different, the vizard were test subjects who had enough power to oppose the hollowfication (at first).. how is it different they resisted too and got a mask first...

I agree with Whewt22,, You cant optain all the powers of the other side. There are limits. And i agree with SaA too, same as they told us how large your zanpaktou is how much reiatsu is. Hes just very strong as any other main char.
