The form that Ichigo took when he was defeating his inner hollow was probably because the energy he was releasing was completely his hollows, rather than a combination of his energy and the hollow. This was shown by him still holding tensa zangetsu in a semi hollow form. It was probably more of the hollow energy, because Ichigo was pretty much dead! Hole in the chest anyone?

I want to know how he is gonna be able to get that form back, maybe stabbing himself through the heart while wearing the mask?

Okay, you make your point ,but ichigo' hollow and zangetsu are one and the same ,like the two faces of the same coin .they don't cooperate because
there is just one power ,ichigo's power.
when his shinigami's powers are stronger that hollows power then zangetsu get control ,when hollow's power are stronger the hollow take control.
But in the end there is just one power,okay?

I still think that there could be some way of explaining Ichigo's growth through some sort of spirit energy absorption, dissolution, etc. Maybe one of Zangetsu's powers is that he feeds off of spiritual energy during a battle (like a Quincy if I'm not mistaken), and either uses it temporarily to win, or "eats" it to gain power. To be honest, Ichigo seems to be at his best when fighting an enormously powerful enemy.

Of course he's his best when the is fighting an enormously powerful opponent...how else does he power up? If he fought an okay opponent he doesn't really show anything new.

i think there may be something in that, if we look at the zaraki and ichigo fight when zaraki put out some ichigo grew in power, even after zangatsu gave him all his power

dude i just think ichigo is like the vizards. if u remember right the vizards mask came first just like ichigo when he had to get his shinigami powers back. and idk i dont think a sword would carry the power of a hollow. i think when urahara had ichigo (almost) turn into a hollw to get his powers back the hollow part that he fought off was in his sword. it would make sense because when ichigo did that training with urahara his sword changed completely when he got hiis shinigami powers back
