see, kubo tite does this all the time, look at yumichika and that coolhorn fellow both have this obsession with beauty and it creates a kind of weird bond between the opponents.

Well to be honest I see your point but don't necessarily think that the will fight.

The parallel could smply be to add depth to the character, being that we can already relate to Shunsui, making a character that has similar personality traits allows the reader to see past the "evil arrancar" side of him and into the "human" side of him.

This kind of thing is a common device, it could easily be that the parallel is to highlight the "two different sides of the same coin" feature of the story.
