Why did he wait so long to release his zanpaktou?

Is it to destructive for him to control? He destroyed everything below him when he finally released it, but was that his intent, so that everyone could escape? or was it that was the best he could control it?

With that kind of power one would think that he would have been more help when fighting with the assasins. Was he just keeping his power hidden as an "ace in the hole?"

What role will he play in defeating Kifune, if any?

Rukia wondered why he took so long to release his zanputou after he did so, so it should be explained soon.
I think he's just trying to keep it a secret like the guys in 11th division are.

I don't think he's going to beat Kifune, that seems more like the new captain or Ichigo's job.

His shikai is sweet though omg man those too fist are awesome I think he could fight with Kifune but I guess they will have Kira lose to him and then Amagai beat him and Ichigo beat the leader of them all

I think Kifune is the leader strengthwise of them all. I don't think that old guy is actually strong. He is just conniving.

it may be his zanpactou is only active for a min or one at a time usage because as soon as he did that attack he zanpactou went back to normal...so he saw no use for him using his zanpactou at the time.

as far as kifune i think kira is going to kick his ass , but seriously i dont think kenru will have any part in that

he won't play any part as he is just a filler character who isn't all that good as his released state doesn't last long

They are all filler charatures. I always thought he would play a larger role because he always stayed back and quiet. A lot of times people like that end up having a large role in the end. Also Rukia commented on the power of his zanpaktou when he finally released it.
