I know this thread is probably uninterresting and no one will care. I'll still make it. I was with 4 of my girls friends the others nights and we was talking when my love for anime come up as a subject. One of my friend was a bit disgusted, saying anime was a bad representation of woman and such. I wanted to take a anime that is fairly popular and that enjoy a minimun (im far from a freak fan but i dont mind) so I took Bleach as a example. What a bad idea. Where are the strong willed and powerfull woman in this anime. Is i'm missing something or there is just a lack of good female representation? I don't need someone dressing up as a man and pretends to be Revolutionary Girl Utena, I just want some kick ass girl... And sadly, I seem to not have many. Inoue? No... don't get me started with this pathetic excuse of a character... Rukia? Halved of half her power and always seem to be waiting for Ichigo to "save" her (it's all for romantic purpose) Matsumoto, that is mostly know for her large breast, her drinking habit and her love for shopping... There is only 1 woman espada and I think we saw her "once" in the whole anime so far. The Captains and lieutnents arent better as there is only this mother-like almost too nice captains that "cure people" (you think she do the laundry and the dishes too?) Soi Fon at the limit... but how often do we talk about her? Momo Hinamori was just dumb and naive, Yachiru is a baby... The only strong representation of woman in the anime may be Kukaku (how often do we see her) and maybe Yoruichi (which most belived she was a man when she was in cat form =P I actually like her) but I had almost forgot about her because of how long it's been since we saw her. (I know, she doesnt fit with this filler arc maybe) I -think- the Vizards actually have better female characters, but I know nothing about them so I stop my comments here. So my question is: Do i'm missing something? Is i'm just totally wrong? Or if there is some kick ass girl in the anime, that i just didnt realise how kick ass they was? Thanks for the answer guys. PS: if you are to comment about how you don't care about this thread, just don't post.

I think you are kinda right haha. Halibel, Kuukaku, and Yoruichi are the only non-annoying girls in Bleach. Unohana should totally be strong though, she's been part of the squads since the beginning. She is definitely ballin.

Ururu. However, still viewed as shy, timid, and a bit submissive/weak when it comes to Jinta picking on her. But yes, the woman representation in Bleach isn't really that impressive as say, Claymore. But even then there are male superiors that tell them what to do. Last edited by Mann; 08-29-2008 at 10:09 AM. |

Rukia and KArin (Ichigos sister) are actually gender-bender guys... Yoruichi maybe, how ever there will be Neliell soon in anime (after filler arc will end) and shes sort of a good represendation of a woman. We could also go for Yachiru, as shes cheerfull, cute and beats the crap out of every perv |
