Keep in mind when they fought he didnt even have the Yami Yami No Mi

Also his ability allows him to manipulate gravity, nullify others DF ability ... just by these two his ability combined with his regular power make him seriously strong

well there are a couple things I can comment on about this...for one we know so little about the fight it's ridiculous to assume anything unless I missed something
for one, we don't even know shanks was a yonkou or even close to that in strength at the time
shanks had the scar before he met luffy as a kid, shanks could of been a nameless rookie at the time, so it doesn't say much imo

secondly BB's fruit seems like a replacement for his inability to use haki, but as you move up to serious fighters on a higher scale, like admirals and yonkou, his ability can be used by almost everyone to that extent

unlike other logias, he can't let objects pass through him so he can easily take high damage against strong and fast opponents

I don't know how many times i've heard people say BB could easily beat kizaru, or aokiji, he's definately over rated battlewise

No1 said he can beat the admiral lol we cant know that.But its seems that Kizaru and Aokiji dont have any signs of Haki eather atleast till now.
Shanks was already a well known pirate when he met Luffy,and had haki at the time :O
Whitebeard mentions that everyone was kinda shocked when Shanks returned from the east blue with no arm,only by this we can assume that his was already a well known pirate.
Also another hint,Mihawk (the best swordsman) stoped fighting Shanks when he lost his arm.
Also does it rly matter if he cant let objects pass threw him when he can do the same to his opponents?.

seccondly mihawk said I no longer have interest in fighting a 1 armed man such as yourself, but that could of just been a taunt, it doesn't entirely mean they fought before it happened
as for the WB and arm comment, WB new of shanks cuz he was a kid on rogers ship, but that doesn't mean everyone was suprised...
I mean Higuma didn't even know who shanks was, how famous could he of been ?

about BB thats only the case if he grabs hold of them, he's weak to mid range attacks and fast short range ones

and I don't see any reason to believe admirals can't use haki, since haki is given to most over powered characters in OP
besides they have been VA's with their fruits for 20 years, that plenty of time to pick up on haki if they couldn't already use it at the time

Well Higuma or any other resident in the east blue just dont know anything about the grand line anyway ... I mean most thought that Don Krieg was the strongest pirate out there
and still Shanks had to be strong back then if he could use Haki
Also we dont know almost anything about Haki is it even possible for everyone to develop.. Why should all top class pirates use haki in the first place anyway that would just be annoying.

lol, I did forget about the ignorance of east blue :/ I mean how many of kriegs pirates thought zoro could take mihawk :/

lol say what ? even weak soldiers of kuja can learn haki when they train for it right, why would you assume an admiral couldn't learn to use haki..maybe they don't have kings disposition but saying they can't use haki is kind of, a stretch

Correct, but I wonder if the world government requires admirals to be able to use haki. That would be interesting.
