That...would suck IMO....wat kind of adventure is that? they get all beaten up and are magically transported away to the dreams....

True it does take the fun out of most of it but what if it only leads to more conflict?

Robin reads the Rio poniglyph and learns to true meaning of the will of D...and it's ominous. Perhaps enough to prompt her to do something drastic.

Usopp makes it to Elbaf but it isn't what he had hoped it'll be... I mean Jaguar D. Salo did say they were a bunch of Barbarians.

Nami finds a lot of treasure but realizes it's nothing compared to her Nakama

Franky just being ported to the ship has not achieved his dream. His dream is to take it to the end of the grand line. Perhaps he uses it to gather the crew again?

Zoro fights Mihawk and loses again. He still isn't ready.

Chopper learns a lot to become a better Doctor but it only scratches the surface of what could be learned... he must seek the greatest mind in the world...Dr. Vegapunk.

Brook does meet with Laboon. But must leave him again to find his Nakama... can you imagine his pain... to see his old friend again after all these years only to have to leave him again?

Sanji: Sure he's found All blue...but he gives it up for NAMI SWAN! ROBIN CHWAAAAAN! (sorry couldn't resist.) but hey what good is being a cook if you have no one too cook for right?

And Luffy if he were ported to One Piece he may not care. He couldn't protect his Nakama and thus feels hollow. Or like you said it diesn't feel like such a great adventure.

All of this is purely speculation. But like I said in my previous post perhaps the Devil's fruit users were sent to Dr. Vegapunk for study. HE could do horrible experiments on them or perhaps he is a good person who tells them what the Devil's Fruits truly are... and it ain't pretty.

While we are on the subject of Vegapunk I think that he himself is a devil's fruit user... maybe he ate the Brain brain fruit thus granting him incredible intelligence.

But hey Oda is the king of curve balls so we all may be wrong.
