Who is learning Japanese, and why? Like, would you consider learning just so you can understand your favorite anime shows? I don't know if I want to learn Spanish since it's widely used an similar to English, or Japanese because Japanese culture is so cool. Mandarin/Chinese was also on my list, but I'm not sure about that, since China is communist. Last edited by KonohaVillager; 02-14-2009 at 10:43 PM. |

What I mean is if I don't really want to live there why would I learn their language, despite the fact so many people speak it? And yeah probably this should be lounge material, my bad. |

i'm not learning japanese because of anime or manga...i've always been interested in japan long before that and japan is leading the technology in the world so why not learn a language that can help me in a job or in life basically...education is good whether it's for fun or career.

I am not currently trying to learn Japanese, but I am thinking about it. Mostly because I have always been interested in foreign languages and have been able to learn a few. Having listened to a lot of Japanese through watching anime, it has a nice sound in my ear, and that's making me want to learn it now, too!

You can hate on China if you like, but our economies relies on each other. Also many countries fear the USA and China joining forces. That being said I would not rule out learning Chinese because it might be useful in the future, but Japanese would cool to learn as well. Both those languages can be hard to learn, but if you think you can do it I would chose one of those over Spanish. |
