kenjutsu/taijutsu, potatoe/patato its the same thing

hidan uses it like an appendage, dont see a problem with saying its taijutsu...
mite guy uses kunai/nunchaku
lee uses bandages/kunai
neji uses kunai/energy blasts

ten-ten is a weapon specialist, not hidan

Gai uses nunchaku. Sure. That's still not taijutsu.
Lee uses his bandages. That might be taijutsu since they really have no other function than to aid his hand-to-hand techniques. And I don't think I've ever seen him using a kunai.
Neji uses energy blasts. Those are technically ninjutsu paired with taijutsu.

Also, while I agree that Hidan isn't a specialist, I dunno if Ten-Ten could be called that either, since she NEVER MANAGES TO HURT ANYONE WITH THEM.

lol,

i know its not literal taijutsu but it is still basic, complementary skill in the case of the male team 8? members; extreme close range weapons paired with hand to hand. they just are so good with those basic skills that it gives them an great advantage in combat.

i guess i dont feel the distiction between kenjutsu & taijutu is neccessary. especially when compared to taijutsu & non-elemental ninjutsu, with the likes of ten ten, kankuro, -kidomaru, shika, Sai, etc. now that is signifigant.

ninjas regularly carry swords & kunai but i want spectacular

Well we've seen him use three kinds of weapons(the scythe, the sharp pole, and a sword). He can probably use a whip and a ball and chain.

when did he use a sword? i remember two 'poles'

and the pole is the 'retractable-stake-thing' i presume, but i wouldnt count that as it is only used in the ritual or when he is without his snaking-scythe...

He happens to keep two swords in his torso.

Edit. I think calling them huge kunai would be more accurate.
