One place to browse for ideas (and possibly tutorials) is Cosplay.com (clicky for Mana!). I have zilch experience with wigs, but that's one route you could go for the hair. As for the outfit, depends on how complicated you want to get and what look you prefer... If you don't have sewing skills or just want to keep it simple, the Mana style where he has the white shirt holding the roses might be best. To do that, you could see if there are white ruffled band shirts in your local craft store (I've seen them in the Tshirt section). You could add a loose black ribbon bow to it (and maybe take an extra step by sewing cuffs to the bottom of the sleeves...) and wear the shirt tucked into black slacks or a black skirt (with black stockings) and nice boots. Powder up your face to death (literally. resembling.) and add black lipstick, eyeshadow, and nail polish. Last edited by LunarPhoenix; 05-11-2009 at 04:59 AM. Reason: add extra step... |

Hair Portion: If you don't know, temporary dye can stain or damage your hair, so best to avoid that route unless you're willing to risk it staying at least partially weird for a while. That said... |

Ooh good. Ok, Makeup Portion... Also on Youtube... for example: However, check out this tutorial (of course, you'd have to adapt a little... like choosing black, not blue): Livejournal: Mana Tutorial. |

For the clothing portion... You could browse the patterns at a local craft store (a fabric store is best if you have one...), see if anything catches your fancy. Or you could start with black slacks or a black skirt as a base... and cinch/sew multiple layers of black organza (folded accordion-style) around the waistband to make a skirt. You could add highlights of blue organza to the mix while you're at it if you like. Finish it off by wrapping fabric around the midsection, covering/smoothing out the top of the organza. You could also use tulle, but I think it'd end up poofier than you want. The organza could double as a neck scarf and shirt embellishments as well... If you can't find/make lace gloves, a substitute is to take black fabric gardening gloves and snip off the fingers (or leave them on, depending on what kind of gloves you want). |
