Default Aussie Anime Expo

I thought I just let anyone who is going to be in Auistralia know about an expo coming up in Melbourne. All the details are listed below

Australia’s first Multimedia exhibition hits Melbourne this October 13/14th at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre, Melbourne.

Featuring Comics, Animation, Computer and Console games, TV and Movie Stars, Sports, Wrestling, Music and more.

Special Events and Areas

Armageddon presents a diversity of activities that complement each other to create a unique atmosphere and a truly memorable experience, these include…


Comics and Fantasy

Armageddon will be host to a number of Local and international comic creators as well as diverse range of fantasy stores from all over Australia. Special comic guests confirmed as attending include:

Ed Brubaker – The man who killed Captain America! Current writer on Uncanny X-Men, Daredevil, Criminal, The Immortal Iron Fist and Captain America. Unfortunately Ed has advised us that he can no longer attend Armageddon due to work commitments. We hope to have him out for a future event.

Gail Simone – work includes writing on Birds of Prey, Secret Six, Villains United, Action Comics, Deadpool and Gen13

Jimmy Palmiotti – currently working on his co-creation TV series ‘Painkiller Jane’ staring Terminator 3 actress Kristina Loken (of which Jimmy will be brining items to the show), Jimmy is also known for his work as writer of such comics as Heroes for Hire, Upcoming Terra, Superboy, Deadpool, Punisher, Hawkman and more

Amanda Connor – Artist with numerous work including Vampirella, The Pro, Gatecrasher, Birds of Prey, Powergirl:JSA Classified and more

Nicola Scott - Australian comic book artist working on titles such as Birds of Prey, Angel and Star Wars.

David Wohl - co-creator of Witchblade & The Darkness.

Greg Rucka - current writer of Checkmate and a co-writer on the weekly series 52. Greg has advised us he is unable to attend due to work commitments.



Animation

A variety of animation stores promoting and selling as well as international animation voice actors. These special guests will be signing FREE both days of the event, coupled with a number of special anime orientated events and panels.

Maile Flanagan - Naruto in the hit series Naruto. Unfortunately Maile has advised us that she is no longer able to attend due to work commitments. Stephanie Sheh has stepped into her place.

Richard Horvitz – Zim in Invader Zim, Billy in the Grim adventures of Billy and Mandy and Daggett in Angry Beavers

Rino Romano – Batman in the Batman, Darien/Tuxedo Mask in Sailor Moon and Spiderman in Spiderman Unlimited

Rodger Bumpass – Squidward Tentacles in Spongebob Squarepants, Dr Light in Teen Titans and Professor Membrane in Invader Zim

Billy West – various voicing in the hit show Futurama including include Philip J. Fry, Professor Hubert Farnsworth, Dr. Zoidberg and Zapp Brannigan as well as many other various characters, Stimpy in The Ren and Stimpy show, Buggs Bunny and Elmer Fudd in the movie Space Jam, Doug Funnie in Doug and many others

Neil Kaplan – Optimus Prime in Transformers: Robots in Disguise and Hawkmon in Digimon

Bruce Timm – well known comic and animation artist as well as co-creator and producer of Batman the Animated series, Superman: the animated series and Batman Beyond. He is also the creator and producer of the Justice League and JLU series as well as executive producer on Teen Titans.

Andrea Romano - casting director who's credits include Justice League, Batman, teen Titans, Pinky & the Brain, Avatar, Spongebob and many more.

Stephanie Sheh - Stephanie’s credits include major roles in such anime series as Naruto, Bleach, Eureka Seven, Gun Sword X and many more!


TV and Movie Celebrities

An incredible opportunity for the public to meet both local and international television and movie celebrities in person. Celebrity guests already confirmed as attending include:

Adam West – best known as Batman in the 1960’s TV series BATMAN, most recently has appeared in various animated series such as Family Guy and many others. Unfortunately due to a house fire Adam can no longer attend Armageddon.

Julie Newmar – Famous as the premier Catwoman of the 1960’s from the TV series BATMAN. As Adam is no longer attending Julie will also not be in attendance.

Ray Park – Toad on the X-men and Darth Maul in Star Wars episode One

Matt Wood – General Grievous in Star Wars Episode Three and the animated series Star Wars Clone Wars. Matt has advised us that he will be unable to attend due to work comitments.

Jane Badler - Diana from the hit sci-fi series V

Chris Rankin - Percy Weasley from the Harry Potter films

Jay Laga'aia - Captain Typho in Star Wars episodes II & III

Peter Woodward - Galen from Crusade & Babylon 5

Rob Van Dam - WWE/ECW wrestling star

Joe Flanigan - Lt Colonel John Sheppard from Stargate Atlantis. Due to a change of the Atlantis filming schedule Joe will be appearing on Sunday only.


Sabu - ECW/TNA hardcore wrestling legend. Sabu appears courtesy of Force Entertainment

John Wesley Shipp - TV's 'The Flash'


Trading Cards

As the only expo supported by Upperdeck, Armageddon will feature a number of cool trading card events, including non stop tournaments both days with Yu-gi-oh and World of Warcraft, duelling on demand, learn to play with free demo deck prizes and much more!


Live Wrestling

Twice daily shows from PWA Elite: Pro Wrestling Alliance. Sydney based wrestling talent faction of the PWA nationwide organisation featuring Australia's most talented pro wrestlers


Lasertag

Two huge Lasertag arenas, running FREE both days of the event


Computer and Console Gaming

With large displays of the latest gaming creations as well as events and activities coupled with a significant retail presence and huge sales with planned gaming areas featuring Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii.


Sports

Meet some of Australia’s sporting legends, get an autograph and interact with your favorite sporting hero and team.


Music

At Armageddon, attendees will have a chance to see and hear some of Australia’s up and coming music stars as well as the opportunity to rub shoulders with a legend or two from the Australian music industry.

Bobby Flynn - 2006 Australian Idol top 12 contestant where his stunning vocals, original arrangements and engagingly different persona won over a legion of fans nationally.

Monique Brumby - Monique is an ARIA award winner and a talented Australian artist having worked with some of the industry's greatest.


Other events planned include Pillow fights, pizza eating contests, Cosplay, LAN tournaments and much more to come!

Entry costs - tickets on sale now from Ticketmaster or at the door during the event.


Adult - One day $16.00
Adult - Two day pass $28.00

Child (12 and Under) - One day pass $10.00
Child (12 and under) - Two day pass $17.00

Family pass (2 Adults and 2 Children) - one day only $42

Gold Pass - A special ticket for those die hard fans of the event, this includes the following
• Entry to Melbourne event on both days
• Priority access to the event & autograph queues
• One autograph from each celebrity Media Guests attending the event
• One ticket to the Cocktail event - details to be confirmed
• Limited edition numbered souvenir Gold Card
• One photo with your choice of guest in the celebrity signing area, during the official photo sessions.

The gold passes are limited to only 40 issue and cost $350.00.

The Venue

Held in the highly popular Melbourne venue, the MEC or Melbourne Exhibition Centre (aka Jeffs Shed) is located near Melbourne's CBD, with numerous car parks and ready access to trams, bus and trains.

DAMN! I wish I could go to this. Instead I'm stuck in New England. Someday I'll do more traveling. Auistralia is on my list, just after Japan and Italy.....
