Zanpaktou discussion!

i have seen on wiki pages and similar places that ichigos & soi fons zanpakto are usually classified as power/blade ampliification type releases instead of kidou/static ability type releases...shouldnt they be in the kidou category? and are there any official categorizations for zanpakto types?

i left out a few characters for differing reasons but this is enough to see where i was going...ichigo increases his physical capabilites along with the reiatsu blast while soi fons ability can instantly and completely seal her targets 'spirit energy' resulting in 'spiritual decomposition' :P

Took me a good ten seconds to figure out what your trying to discuss rofl. You want to discuss kidou and nonkidou based zanpaktou right? I wouldn't consider Ichigo's zanpaktou kidou based. He has one ability that can liken, but it's such a simple concept im sure almost anyone can perform it.

well if getsuga tenshou is not even a unique ability why did he need to communicate with zangetsu to use it;or are you just implying that ichigo is completely novice in his sword mastery and COULD(this wont happen )further develop more signifigant,unique zan-techniques...that makes sense

havn't been on her in a min...... but i only read the first part but it pissed me off.....GT is filtering you spiritual pressure threw his zanpactou and firing it from the time.... whewt is saying that most shinigami can most-likly do it because they have all the components sp, zanpactou ect. He is just basically implying that GT is a like a basic move maybe a fundamental so to say so if a shinigami wanted to achieve it they simply could. IMO i think that zangetsu has more to it than GT.............

how is matsumotos a kido? its basicly the same as byakuyas but its ash instead of the pink stuff
and whats with ukitake in the kidou section? dosent he just get 2 swords?

Well Ichigo didn't need to communicate with zangetsu to use it, but I think to use it to its full potential. He fired one off at Kisuke moments after obtaining Shikai. But yeh like Kiske said, condensing and firing spiritual pressure off seems rather basic, and im sure even Kenpachi could perform to a degree. I guess him chopping through the building is an example of this.

Your right though, there should be more techniques, he esentially became a shinigami a few months ago. Im with Silver, Matsumoto and Kuchiki aren't too much kidou. And we don't know enough about Ukitake to judge.

kuchikis senbon zakura is manipulating multiple blades right?i put matsumoto in the kidou group because i thought she was manipulating some form of earth/dirt,im still not sure what the substance is supposed to be. if its not an elemental type weapon what is it then,powdered steel?
and am i the only person who thought that Haineko was a smoldering ash cloud that burned through objects the first time they saw it in action?

and i jumped the gun with kyoraku and ukitake;i assumed that they both also manipulate an element,both their release commands hint at the possibility at least.

i should have left them off the list like i did kenpachi,kotetsu isane & tetsuzaemon;we havn't seen any of their attacks yet...

the ash is most likely her blade, her zan just seems a weaker version of byakuya's zan

I wouldn't consider Mayuri's shikai to be Kidou based either. Paralysis Poison? That's hardly kidou.

its not kidou but it is definitely a unique ability and poison can be considered an element...one question;is the shikai paralysis thingy of his actually injecting some thing into ishida or is there like a magic effect once he pierces his body/limb?
