in one of the episodes his (hollow?) form wrapped the rope around his hand and just started throwing the shikai sword at ichigo and ichigo was like "ill have to remember that," only he never actually used it, i think it'd be interesting to see ichigo fight like his hollow

Well he never actually tried to memorize it, he was more like "what kind of messed up way to fight is that?"

Kinda used a similar move to break the Sokyo Cross tho'

he does swing his sword all over the place
his shikai is like opposite of his bankai cause like his shikai is like huge and fat and hes swinging it all over the place but i think if he tried swinging his bankai less all over the place it would better

On a side note Im still confused about something. I'm pretty sure Urahara had to "kill" Ichigo to get him his powers back. That's the only way the soul chain, hollow transformation/ shinigami thing makes any sense. So why does he keep refering to himself as human? He said it again in this most recent arc.

Anyway unfortunately Ichigo doesnt need tactics as the "tactic" Kubo has given him now is to just have someone (Orihime etc.) cry or he thinks of his friends when he starts losing then give him an unexplained massive increase in power (reiastsu/transformation)so he can win. Kubo killed the point of his bankai, tactical fighting, or learning anything new from Zangetsu a long time ago unfortunately in favor of this.

The series tried a little to make it seem like his swordsmanship was actually improving rapidly thru an observation made by Yoroichi during his bankai training but ultimately he as others have said just swings the sword around like an hammer till he wins.

Watching his hollow fight is much more interesting. I dont care if Ichigo himself fights ever again.

Ichigo refers to himself as a human because that's what he essentially is.
He's still the same person as before, since he never went to SS and lost his memories(which apparently is kinda random but high-reiryoku ppl experience it often).

His body is still intact and since he's now a shinigami he can move in and out of it - just like when Rukia first gave him shinigami powers - but he's still pretty much human.

Ok so Urahara didnt have to kill him to get his powers back and hes not using a gigai to switch in and out of in Kurakura. I'll accept that but the soul chain thing still bothers me if he didnt have to "die" to get it to show up.

I had figured he never went to SS b/c he wasn't purified by a zanpaktou b4 transforming into a hollow to go there. Instead he became a hollow and got his shinigami powers at the same time which was unprecedented.

Yeah, well, if Urahara had bumped him on the head while he was still "dead" (chain cut) he'd gone to SS.
Which would of been a stupid thing to do.

Orihime got torn out of her body with her chain attached, meaning that she was in all meanings of the word "dead" during that period.
But since her chain wasn't cut, her body didn't decay, and as such she was able to re-enter it, effectively resurrecting her.
To a shinigami the chain is obsolete, so Ichigo would have remained dead whether he'd become a hollow or not as long as he didn't become a shinigami.
And if you read the manga you'll see that Urahara gave him some strange pills to eat to "heal up" after the whole thing with Rukia being taken, and saying "we wouldn't want you to die during training, would we?"
I formulated a theory that those pills also kept his body in suspended animation while Ichigo was "dead"

Me, Whewt and some others had a pretty heated debate on the subject, and Whewt agreed with me in the end.
