I'm not... Taka vs. Eagle pales in comparison to Taka vs. Hawk. It was pretty tame considering it came after the brutal Hawk fight.

I'm looking way more forward to Ippo vs. Shima, Sawamura, Scracth J, and Malcolm, Mashiba vs. Sawamura, and Miyata vs. Randy Boy.

I wouldn't go so far as saying that Taka vs. Eagle "pales in comparison" to Taka vs. Hawk, as both offered something that the other lacked. Taka vs. Hawk was basically a street fight, between two guys who were literally beasts and had incredibly sharp instincts. While Taka vs. Eagle wasn't as aggressive, it showed more of the science of boxing. It was an actual match, between two opponents with superb boxing ability. They didn't fight like it was a grudge match, as Taka and Hawk did, they fought as two equal sportsmen and in my opinion, it was just as beautiful and much needed from the fight w/ Hawk.

I do agree that the other upcoming fights are going to be pretty freaking sweet to see as well. As the manga is usually one of the first sources of information when it comes to news of a new Hajime no Ippo season, I read it weekly (also to see the great fights ahead as well), and I haven't heard any definite news so far on a new season or continuation. I hope they do come out with one soon though, I was so disappointed when New Challenger ended so abruptly. Hajime no Ippo truly is a classic among anime.

I didn't say Taka vs. Hawk was a bad fight, just that it wasn't a good follow-up to Taka vs. Hawk. It didn't have the same intensity.

And I was simply saying that I disagree on that. Even if the match didn't lack the same intensity (how often does any of the matches in the series have the same intensity), there were still some elements displayed in the Taka vs. Eagle match that weren't displayed in the match against Hawk. Also, I'm a member of both of those threads.

I understand what the point of Taka vs. Eagle was (to show Taka's technical skill as opposed to his instinct/raw talent), but I still didn't like it as much. I can understand why some people would like it as much, but I still don't.

And I posted the group and thread so people would start moving the discussion towards those places. AnimeForce mentioned the current fight, so I posted the Manga discussion thread to steer any possible conversations on that topic in that direction.

Ah, I see about the manga discussions and what not (I think AnimeForce is new). I also understand and agree with your opinion regarding the intensity of Taka and Hawk's fight. I can understand why people would see it that way, I mean it was the first time Takamura had ever been pushed to his limits (that we've seen). Hawk was definitely an excellent opponent for Takamura to overcome.

I just find that the seeing Takamura display the extent of his technical skills, something that had also not been covered much, due to Takamura simply just overpowering his opponents. I felt it was an excellent change of pace to see Takamura pushed, while at the same time display the full results of Coach Kamogawa's tutelage.
