Here is my basic theory:

They started out looking for the mountain, but Yachiru noticed a bird or a butterfly or a shooting star (that's the one I'm really betting on) and urged Ken-chan to speed after it. She certainly loves it when he runs fast. Thus, they were lost before even reaching the silly mountain. If they ever do eventually reach said mountain (I would bet they'd forget about it or find something more appealing), they head back toward Rukongai and Seireitei and become lost on the way back. Kenpachi will come charging in after Ichigo puts down the Zanpakutou rebelling and will completely lose his temper after realizing he's missed all the action and fun.


More importantly: even if Ken-chan doesn't know the name of his Zanpakutou, the screen writers could come up with some idea of personality (just as blood-thirsty as Ken-chan). Yachiru must know the name of her's, and it's very important that she not be involved in the rebellion because the screen writers wouldn't know what to do with her. Would it be as adorable and cute as her, or completely opposite of her as some other Shinigami? (I refer to Hisagi here).

maybe some magic mushrooms... the whole arc is just a bad trip from kenpachi b/c he doesn't know what kind of sword he has, and is wondering what its like to have a sword that acknoledges u....

Old Man Yama is training everyone, Ken and Byakuya are in on it.... Ken doesn't know the name of his sword and that is y he ain't in this filler... in filler arcs no one learns or gains any abilities there for Ken will not be appearing in this one. In this new episode we saw Byakuya making some trouble see i think he and Yama and yama's vice captain are in on all this.... Byakuya is a hard guy to fool

Ok, 1. there's really nothing to base that theory on(especially since that plot point was used in the last filler already, 2. the required humor level for this thread is at least +1

That being said, I fully agree that Ken can't appear because he doesn't know sword name/abilities etc.

What we're "discussing" here is what he's doing, not why.

exactly well kinda... he went to the mountain to see if he could move it because if some skinny scragly dude (jesus) could do it why couldn't a kenpachi.
