The cheese-grater thing looked more like a defense to me, and it's not like I haven't seen him do that stuff before.
But I do agree that the animation was stepped up this time, Renji's bankai deserves more effects(in retrospect, his Shikotsu Taihou was below standard)

I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. Reminded me of the good old days of bleach where there wasn't 20 episodes of filler after every 5 episodes of story

Though them anime shout peoples who subbed it could of done a better job, should of waiting for Dattebayo

Well there have been a lot of fillers lately. Though not as frequent as he claims, he does have a point.

Third... well, can't really say it rocked my world, 'cause it's bleach, and it's an entire filler arc done in 1,5 hours.
The story wasn't either great nor bad, just very ordinary.
I don't know.
For a moment I had the same feeling of excitement as I did when I watched bleach for the first time, but it passed just as suddenly as it came.
The animation was top-notch by bleach standards, though it's at the same level as any of the FMA:B episodes so far.
Some inconsistencies or rather fanservice really ticked me off, such as the captains wipping out their swords a bit too willingly.
All in all; a not so convincing thumbs up and a skewed smile

You mean like Komamura using Bankai at his first encounter with Ichigo?
Yeah that was a little brash, but then again he needed something really tall and wasn't gonna take chances.

Yeah, bankai isn't something you obtain just to make you stronger in a fight, some times it's really just really very practical.
