I tried watching the anime.. but I didn't think it was anything special.. but it looks like it's one of those ones where the manga is much better than the anime (even though manga is usually better than the anime  )

I haven't watched the anime but the manga is awesome, it started off slow but the plot really starts to pick up and the characters develop. The last chapter was pure win, read the manga I'm sure its a lot better too

I think I'll have to >< after reading shaman king I've found the difference between short anime with alternate endings and manga.. :3 that difference is called genius haha*on list to watch*
