What I don't get is if the tower is kind of buried, why are the trap doors that are pretty much on the same level as the rest of the ground around the tower not buried as well?

Maybe the floor around the tower was lower than the trap cause they put bait there or something, or over time the ground around the tower sank or something...
actually I think the trap doors had a layer of dirt and what not on it too...right?

i think that's also a reason why the monsters didnt come out earlier

well I doubt he's actually immortal, he probably just called him that because he survived that incident. wonder what kind of drama these two will cause. at first I thought yuki pulled it down, I'm like lol as if.
